Macclesfield FC v. Witton Albion

Witton face their toughest challenge of the season when they travel to leaders and title favourites Macclesfield FC on Tuesday night in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

The Silkmen currently lead the table by nine points and are unbeaten in their last ten league games, winning eight of them.

Witton go into the game following an excellent win at home to Kidsgrove Athletic at the weekend, with in-form striker Connor Hughes on target once again.

Macclesfield’s home form has seen them win eleven out of thirteen league games but they have yet to draw a home league game.

One reason for their success has been the goalscoring form of winger James Berry who has nineteen goals to his name so far so, will need to be watched very carefully.

Off the field, things haven’t always gone right for the Silkmen this season with the appointment of experienced midfielder Neil Danns as Head Coach, their third manager this season.

A blend of youth and experience has helped in their progress with the likes of Luke Murphy and one-time Albion loanee Nicky Maynard playing a major role.

The return fixture at the U Lock It Stadium earlier in the season, saw Witton come out on top with striker Joe Duckworth getting the only goal, so they can hopefully take confidence from that result and come away with something from the game.

The play offs are within sight and with two games in hand on some of the teams above them, a positive result would do Witton’s chances a power of good.

Kick off at The Leasing.com Stadium is 7.45pm.

I fancy us to do the double over Macclesfield to keep our push for the play offs on course. The team are certainly capable of doing so and have the desire and drive needed. Good luck boys. UTA
