Manchester City

I have always felt an affinaty with Manchester City over the years. Always overshadowed by Man U just like us with Vics. Occasionally they would rise to the top and invariably their rise coincided with a rise of our team, but they, and we always fell back into the shadows again. After tonight’s victory and our victory on Saturday I live in hopes that both clubs are on the rise again and that this time both will climb out of the shadows of their nemesis and dominate their level of the game for years to come.

34 years and counting.

I thought City looked very good tonight but in all honesty WHS they don’t set a good example to anyone, other than that you can buy your way to the top. The money spent is ridiculous.

This season;

Boateng
Toure
Silva
Kolarov
Balotelli
Milner

and previously…

Robinho
Barry
Santa Cruz
Toure
Adebayor
Tevez
Lescott

£260m approx, you should be able to win the league and the European Cup with the amount they have spent.

Ironically the best player on the pitch tonight was Johnson (with Hart not far behind). Two Englishmen and two of their cheapest signings. They also just let Bellamy go to Cardiff and if you saw highlights of their game at the weekend he was magnificent.

I hope the 34 years becomes 35, if the Sheik gets bored then who picks up the salary bill?

Could be, sheikin’ all over !!

Are you saying Alex has not spent twice as much while he has been Manager? Plenty of home grown talent I will grant you but many of the stars were bought for huge fees, Rooney, Carrick, Van Nistelroy, that mid fielder who turned out to be as good as me but cost £30 million years ago, even the beloved Bryan Robson came from another club, WBA I think, so don’t moan now that City have some money to spend. If we sell the ground and make a decent profit will it be wrong for us to buy some good players and pay them good money? If I snuff it and leave my “fortune” to the club will that be wrong too? And if a “Sugar Daddy” comes along and offers us millions will we send him away? I don’t think so. City are on the “Up” I believe with the Glasers in charge United are on their way down, whether it will stay that way, who knows, but City fans should enjoy it while they can and we should enjoy our ascendancy over Vics if, as looks more and more likely it happens this season.

Lets hope they get relegated. Thats not football its the sort of thing that we go mad at when non-league teams do it. You should only spend what you have and we are all paying for City every time we put petrol in the car. I would like it spent somewhere else other than on foreign players. My local hospital could do with a bit if theres any spare.

United’s profits go to pay the Glaser’s debts in the USA, most of the money being spent by City is going to other English Clubs. As for your local hospital being more deserving I agree entirely, but it ain’t going to happen. We live in a society where fairness has gone out of the window, even more so now we have this awful coalition government. They said Labour were lying about pensioners Winter fuel payments, Bus passes, TV licences etc being cut if Cameron won, who is lying now? Back to football. If a man wants to put money into a business how can you stop him?

Tick tock …

THe “Alarm” is about to go off!!

Sir Alex has undoubtedly spent more than £260 million since he has been at United, but that is over a period of 24 years, not in just two.

Also, since the Glazer take-over five years ago, United have not spent the kind of money that City have spent since they were taken over.

City, however, are not the worst in football for spending stupid amounts of money on players. Last summer Real Madrid spent about £200 million on just four players, and ended the season with nothing to show for it. I hope City do the same this year.

Latest news from City - their open top bus is going in for it’s 35th MOT today !

It’s such a sad reflection on the state of football when every football fan wants their club to be sold to someone they’ve never heard of so that they can buy a bunch of mercenaries and pay them outrageous amounts of money. Not to mention the complete disregard for the morals of the individuals or the nature of the political regimes that the money hails from. If Liverpool can be sold to a Chinese company backed by the Chinese government with their marvellous human rights record…My priority has always been Witton anyway but I have completely lost interest in higher level football since it lost interest in itself.

Witton has always been my number 1 but i have liked prem football but it is reducing day by day its so removed from the real world its not even good entertainment in the main part, maybe the day will come when local real people start following real local teams in much bigger numbers than current - We can hope  city dont like what they are doing but if they win the prem and knock the cockiness out of utd fans then good.

CJ u must be a Liverpool fan ?

I agree totally, the Premiership is awful, just based on cash, but I have to laugh when supporters of teams who had cash but now don’t moan because another team now has cash!! Witton is my ONLY interest in football, the rest, England included could be playing in my back garden and I couldn’t be bothered to watch. Foriegn players and managers are making a fortune out of gullible supporters who have been persuaded that only these mercanaries can save their club.
