Marine AFC vs Witton Albion.

Witton make the relatively short trip to Merseyside on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Marine in an Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture. With both teams at the wrong end of the table, the game falls into the category of a “six pointer” as the meeting is crucial and especially at a time when games come thick and fast in a short period of time. The two two teams are separated by two places and four points but Witton have three games in hand on their opponents, so a win for either side would be a great boost at this particular stage in the season. Marine have only managed two victories in front of their own supporters so far this season, the last being back in October whilst Witton’s league campaign has been interrupted by successful runs in both the FA Cup and the FA Trophy but now they can focus solely on the league and their aim to climb the table. The last three league meetings between the two clubs have all ended in draws, the reverse encounter earlier in the season at Wincham Park finishing goalless. The latest game is likely to be just as close and with so many former Mariners in the Witton squad and manager Carl Macauley returning to their former club, they will be wanting to come away with a positive result. Kick off at The Marine Travel Arena is 3pm.
