Yes i realised the game was off when at 5:15pm i arrived at matlock to discover a big blackboard with match off wrote on it :blink: to say i was a bit annoyed is an understatement!! normally i work from castleford and have access to this site all day long however yesterday i was working from the northwest and had no internet access so new nothing about a pitch inspection! i rang neil from outside matlocks ground and he had text everyone to let them know but ive recently changed numbers so that text went to my old number! :S
It was a very long and miserable journey home

YR, at least you familiarised yourself with the route again in good time for next Tuesday. Trust you didn’t waste the journey completely and sampled some of the tremendous fish and chips a few hundred yards down from the ground?

I know how you feel.
A couple of years ago, I set off up the M6 on a Saturday morning to watch us play Fleetwood Town away. As the weather got worse, I phoned up the Witton Office to see if the game was in danger of being called off. I was told that it was definetly on!
An hour later, I arrived at Fleetwood, only to find the town under 3 inches of water, and that the game had been called off at 09:00 in the morning.
I phoned our office again, only to realise that I had been speaking to somebody from Runcorn Linnets the first time I phoned, and that it was their game that was on!
Lesson learnt!!!
If you can get to a computer, then check the forum. If you can’t, then phone the office. Pete Riley is very good at leaving messages on the answer phone with regards postponed matches. However, if somebody answers the phone in the office, make sure they are speaking on behalf of Witton!!!

We have today signed goalkeeper ARRON JAMESON on a month’s loan from Sheffield Wednesday. arron has previously had UniBond experience on loan at Ilkeston Town.
Adam Sollitt could be out for 3-4 weeks, so we are delighted to welcome Arron to the club and he should make his debut at Ossett on Saturday.

could be proved wrong but I’m sure you have to be eligible for the original game to be allowed to play in any replays

All players must have been eligible to play in the original tie in order to play in a replayed or
postponed match; however a player who has been suspended according to the disciplinary
procedures under the Rules of The Association may play in a postponed or replayed match
after the term of his suspension has expired.
On the basis this player was not registered with Matlock in the Unibond League at the time of the first game then looks pretty ineligible to me!
Maybe we should give Giggs and Owen a bell and see if they fancy turning out for us on Tuesday night!
Let’s hope Matlock play him anyway…

I have had it confirmed by Graham the new keeper can not play against us as he wasnt signed by the deadline for the original game.
