Matlock Town vs Witton Albion.

Witton’s “Tour of Derbyshire” continues on Saturday afternoon when they travel to the picturesque setting of Matlock Town in an Evo-Stik Premier Division fixture, a ground at which they have done well in previous years. The Gladiators finished last season in fourteenth place in the table and have again struggled for consistency in this campaign. Witton go into their penultimate away fixture looking for their ninth victory on the road and aiming to complete the double following a narrow 1-0 win at Wincham Park. A top ten finish is well within Albion’s grasp and certainly within their capabilities but with games running out, results of all kinds are still a possibility. Matlock are always dangerous opponents and provide a difficult test for any opposition so Witton will need to be at their best to achieve the desired result. Matlock’s manager will be a familiar face to people as Dave Frecklington was in charge of Spalding United when Albion gained promotion from the Evo-Stik South Division two seasons ago in the Play Off Final. A point at Mickleover Sports on Tuesday night wasn’t a bad result under the circumstances where player unavailability and injuries disrupted the team again but, a point gained is just that. Kick off at The Proctor Cars Stadium is 3pm.
