Matlock Town vs Witton Albion.

Witton Albion are on the road to Derbyshire this weekend with Matlock Town the latest destination of what seems to be a month on the road for us in February.

Carl Macauley will be without striker Will Jones who suffered a double fracture of the jaw in last week’s 3-1 defeat to Ashton United. The front man is sadly ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Hosts Matlock have injury concerns of their own and goalkeeper Jon Stewart is likely to miss out through injury. The Gladiators have signed young Barnsley shot-stopper Jake Greatorex on loan to replace him.

Despite being reasonably late in the season, these two sides have not yet met in the BetVictor NPL Premier Division this term, with the reverse fixture at Wincham Park planned for Saturday 4 April.

The game there last season saw Albion triumph 2-1 with on-loan defender Ben Harrison scoring with an audacious back heel! If you haven’t seen it, it’s on our social media feeds from earlier this week, well worth seeing!

With the gap to the play-off zone now standing at nine points, it’s another important game to try and push ourselves closer to those teams in the top five league positions.

Kick-off at the Proctor Cars Stadium is at 3:00pm.

Given the loss of Jones, I wonder if we could try a 4 3 3 format something like

Renshaw
Baldwin, Anson, Wardle, Short
McKenna, Smart, Foley
Owens, Mitchley, Sambor

Given we don’t have good wide players and a shortage of goals today a 4 4 2 why not give it a go! but I suspect we will go good old 4 5 1. Good luck whoever plays. UTA
