Matlock Town vs Witton Albion.

Witton look to continue their improvement when they travel to form-team Matlock Town in the Northern Premier League on Tuesday night.

The Gladiators currently have begun the season in excellent form and secured their sixth successive league victory at the weekend, coming from behind to beat Stalybridge Celtic 2-1 with two second half Alex Byrne goals which propelled them to second place in the table.

Their only league defeat so far came on the opening day at the hands of Ashton United although, their involvement in the Emirates FA Challenge Cup was ended rather surprisingly by Derbyshire rivals Belper Town.

Witton will go into the game in confident mood following two excellent away victories at Scarborough Athletic in the FA Challenge Cup, then another long trip saw them return from Northumberland with the points after beating Morpeth Town.

Witton’s record at Matlock over the years has been a reasonable one and they will be hoping that continues this time around although, it is certainly one of the toughest places to go.

Latest signing Callum Saunders made an immediate impact at the weeked and will be looking to continue in the same vain as Witton continue their climb away from danger.

Matlock are always tough opponents and this game will be no different and will hopefully prove to be an entertaining one.
