Matlock v Witton Albion Tues 5th Feb

Take it match is on. 3pts would be great but would settle for a draw.

I HAVE MANAGED TO SWAP MY SHIFT

FANtastic see u there Robbo. We are going early - anybody know a good eating and drinking place ?

Might be an idea to stop somewhere half way? Is there nothing on the Matlock site?

Small quote from Phil Brown interviewed before the North Ferriby game at the weekend by the Matlock Mercury;

“They’ll both be difficult games,” he said.

“North Ferriby are fighting for their lives, their manager has not been in the job for all that long and brought in three or four players.

“But if we can continue playing like we have in the last three games we’d like to think we can get something from the game as we’ve been looking more like our old selves.

“Witton are going well and are the best footballing side in the division.

“They’re looking well set for promotion, but we’re looking forward to the challenge that Witton will set us, and we’re looking to getting a good crowd in for what should be an attractive game.

“It’ll also be a measure of our recent progress.”

In response to Eligorton, there used to be a pub we always went to called the White Lion, about 1/2 mile from the ground it had good homemade food and guest beers etc not been for about 3 or 4 seasons now so can’t comment on how it is now but we will be heading there again if only to see if it has changed much

anybody know a good eating and drinking place ?

eli there is a mcdonalds in matlock, ;D ;D ;D

Sorry to disappoint, but there’s no Mc D’s in Matlock (wish there was)

Other places you could eat, The Crown (on crown square) Wetherspoons pub maybe?

Safe journey down.

Phil - MTFC

There was a good fish and chip restaurant just on the town centre side of the ground.
They served up a nice piece of battered cod, just like Gateshead did

Match pointers
NIGEL Deeley is hoping Witton rediscover their rhythm in time for tonight’s trip to Matlock.

The Albion assistant boss told the Guardian he was looking for his players to get back into their groove quickly after 10-day break from action.

"It’s important we keep our momentum going," he said.

"We’ve worked hard on the training pitch over the past week and everybody is raring to go for what is going to be a difficult game."

Deeley admitted he was surprised to see Matlock outside the top six at this stage of the season.

The Gladiators lie eighth heading into tonight’s clash, a huge 12 points off a play-off spot.

"I’m sure at the start of the campaign they would again have set themselves a target to be right up there," he said.

"They’ve still got a fantastic player like Simon Barraclough who is a great goalscorer but one or two others have left for clubs playing at a higher level.

"They’ve leaked an extra goal or two and that’s something we hope to capitalise on."

Albion’s only injury doubt is Dave MacPherson as he is still not fully over a stomach muscle strain, although he has trained this week. Steve Brodie and Adam Morning have shaken off minor knocks and are available to play.

Opponents Matlock lost at North Ferriby on Saturday to further compound their problems.

Joint boss Phil Brown has urged his players to prove a point against the league leaders tonight.

"Witton are going well and are the best footballing side in the division," he told the Matlock Mercury this week.

"They’re looking well set for promotion but we’re looking forward to the challenge that they will set us, and we’re looking to getting a good crowd in for what should be an attractive game.

"It’ll also be a measure of our recent progress."

Former Hucknall Town striker Ben Kistell could be in line for his first start in attack alongside top scorer Simon Barraclough.

8:40am today

I take it the game is not in doubt then?

Nothing on the Matlock forum as at 1.45 and the bbc forecast for Matlock says sun/cloud so signs are good.

Found this when looking for a pub to eat at prior to the match.

Two meals for a £5 between 5 & 7. Sounds and looks good.

Go past ground and turn left at Matlock Green onto A632 towards Chesterfield. Duke of Wellington is 3/4 mile on the left.

See you inside.

Nearly a bus-full watching this on here!

Come on the Albion…

suspect there are a few from Fleetwood and Gateshead too!

Come on albion! Watching like this is far worse than being at the game - don’t know whether my ticker will stand another season like the last one.

I agree, is it nearly full time yet?

Think we have just filled the bus … . . .COME ON WITTON!!!
