Matlock

Having done the gate after 20 minutes of the match I got a message from home that the electrics had gone. Only needed resetting as a bulb had blown. Any score?

One up.

great win.UTA. :clap

A good win played well first half, very scrappy second half and coops kep us in it with some great stops, but 3 points in the bag strange sub to take Dawson off was playing well i thought one of strikers may have been better coming off but hey ho it’s only opinions and we did win, great goal for gards pleased for him after his injury we have a battle on for full back for sure now. UTA

Thought all the defenders and coops played well today. Great to see Gards back :clap .
Matlock with a top striker would be a very formidable side in my opinion.
Three points,much appreciated players, thanks

Spoke to Gards after the match, and unfortunately he has picked up another injury to the same ankle. Hopefully not too serious.

Witton team:

Matt Cooper, Anthony Gardner, Alistair Brown, Ben Harrison, Rob Bodie, Jonathan Breeze, Jon Dawson, Michael Powell, Adam Parkhouse, Aaron Rey, Danny Andrews.

Subs: Michael Moseley, Joshua Crofts, Neville Thompson, Josh Hancock, Stuart Plant.

Reflecting on yesterdays game, highlights how much it was an important win. After we scored on 20mins, Matlock had 2 glorious chances with free headers right in front of goal. Fortunately for us, both Matlock headers were glanced wide.

If they had gone in, Matlock Town would have been one place outside the playoffs on goal difference, whilst Witton would have been one place outside relegation also on goal difference.

As it is, Matlock are in 10th place on 32 points with Witton in 18th place on 25 points.

The 2nd half was not very entertaining, but boy did we battle to keep hold of those 3 points. My Men of the Match were Ben Harrison, Mat Cooper, and an ever improving Rob Bodie, who seems to be developing a good understanding with Ben.

Well Done Lads…I felt very proud of you yesterday, and also well done to the management team!

We would have lost that 2-1 the other month!!

Much improved although we faded again second half. Dawson is a great addition to the squad, just hasn’t got the finish that Hanks has. Breeze and Powell have great chemistry now, as done Ben and Brodie. Great to see Gards back, he gives us so much more.

Aaron Rey had a solid game. Yes he didn’t get a great deal of chances but his movement was great to see. He gave their left back a hard time. Once fully match fit he’ll be a good addition to the squad.

Aaron Rey had a solid game. [/quote] :woohoo:

A massive three points doesn’t matter how they come, puts us in a great position now for a push up the league. I agree Bodie and Ben were MOM’s they dominated a strong and physical frontline.

Dawson was the only threat 2nd half played really well in Hancock’s absence, but dare I say it we need a striker and quick.

An invaluable three points against Matlock who were a good side and certainly no mugs! We did alot right in the first half, pressed and harried whilst keeping our shape and won the ball and passed it. In the second half we did none of that at all and just hung on really, Coops made a couple of superb block saves and Ben played really well. Unfair to judge the new striker who obviously lacked match sharpness, we can only hope he comes good! COME ON THE ALBIOOOOON!

Trust Mr Pritchard, he knows a footballer when he sees one, Rey will come good I am sure.

Centre back partnership look great to me. In fact, the back 5 including Coops were men of the match for me. The new men up front have to be given another couple of games before we can judge if they will strengthen the team, But I’m still waiting on Walker, will he sign when fit, he looked a class above any other striker we have had this season. It’s surely no coinccidence that we looked like last season’s team when he was linking in and scoring up front for a brief period a few weeks ago.
