26 years ago today, Witton Albion Football Club walked out onto the hallowed turf of Wembley Stadium for the FA Trophy Final against Colchester United.
We may have lost the game but that fantastic day I’m sure, will live long in the memory of all Witton fans who were there on that day.
My biggest memory of the day was after the game, getting on the team bus to go back to the hotel. We had an empty seat! I went back into the ground, looking for the missing person, and eventually went into our dressing room, to find Jim Connors, totally destroyed, still in his Witton kit. it took a huge effort to get him changed, out of the stadium and onto the team bus!
