At this uplifting time, it concerns me that the official website continues to be woefully out of date. Surely, this is a simple task to keep updated - forthcoming matches especially.
Also, on a connected matter, the @wittonalbion Twitter account, (with 444 followers!) is similarly contributed to very infrequently. With more frequent updates, I’m sure the following would grow even further.
I think we must use every opportunity and mechanism available to promote our club. For years we have all berated the printed media for not covering our club fairly. Now we have the opportunity to reach hundreds and we are simply not taking advantage of available outlets.
Cheers econneely for the plug about the facebook site as i type Witton Albion Fc now has 466 friends. Several of the members now have the login details so the page can always be kept upto date. Also anyone who is already a member please do suggest any of your facebook friends who maybe interested in the club and are yet to join
It’s a shame about the twitter account, i opened one the other day and have now become a follower but the last update was wakefield away…anychance whoever has the login details for this account could they please share them with one or two other twittoners :silly: so it can be updated between yourselves.
I think the official site has been great this season with excellent match reports, previews & news but i had noticed that the fixtures hadn’t been updated for a while…surely just a small blip

IF WE DON’T WE COULD BE LOOKING FOR A NEW BOARD!! I KNOW EVEN AFTER SATURDAY THERE IS SOME DISSILUSIONMENT AT THE RAPID DECLINE IN ATTENDANCES’ AND PEOPLE WILLING TO HELP
I WAS TALKING TO TWO DIRECTORS LAST WEEK AND THEY WERE VERY DOWN. - DO WE WANT A CLUB OR NOT?
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE IN 6 MONTHS TIME?
FANS MEETING THURSDAY 6th OCTOBER
SOCIAL CLUB 08:00pm
There will be a fans meeting in the Social Club this coming Thursday.
A lot has happened since the close season, thanks to much work behind the scenes.
The club is growing at a rapid rate, and it is important that everybody involved with the club not only knows which direction the club is going in, but also have some input into this.
We are on a mission, but we will never get there unless all our efforts are focused together.
In certain areas, help is needed.
Please come along to the meeting, give your input where requested, and see if you can help in anyway for Witton Albion to achieve its goals.
Well Tongue_of_Fury, I agree with your posting, but you didn’t help with addressing my issue. Unless at the meeting you will address updating the website and under-utilising Twitter.
You may not like it, but these social-media websites are the way forward for promoting the club and ultimately getting more souls along to games.
Working together, I’m sure we can all promote the club using all means available.
No your right EC I didn’t directly answer your point, I will try now. Everything at Witton is done for nothing by volenteers, (except playing of course) and the the media side of things has been taken over by Jeff or Thatched Tavern as we know him on here. He is doing a fantastic job in my opinion getting us far move coverage in the local paper than we’ve had in ages, the ‘news’ updates on the official website is being updated by Jeff as he issues press statements, The bulk of the site which Jeff has no access to was set up by a supporter, as was the twitter and the original facebook page unfortunetly I guess that supporter has either lost interest or other things have taken over so he can no longer do the job. Someone may be needed to take over?? There lies the problem, who will? there is only so much Jeff and the other board members can do, we all have ideas and I throw quite a few of them at my friend (a director) his reply is well get it done, but I can’t commit the time. So my point really is yes your right we should be exploiting all avenues but who is there to do it? unless a lot turn up on Thurs I fear there may be a few less by Friday!
PM me. I can do web site updates and manage a Twitter account - just find who runs it and give me access. Facebook (Witton Albion FC) site is very popular and going well. However, another Facebook site (Witton Albion) also seems redundant - if we could consolidate these that would be great.
Can’t make it Thursday unfortunately, but please let it be known that I’m available to help - thanks
I sincerely hope the Board are not going to walk away as is suggested on this thread what a shame it would be when we just had such a wonderful result in the cup, and we have the Albion dream team of Pritch and Mose at the helm with others helping. Win matches, challenge for promotion, score goals, positive press, blummin twitter, facebook, positivity THAT BRINGS FANS!!! gods sake!!
Please can we stop this nonsense talk about the board before it gets out of hand at a time when the club is moving forward in so many directions both on and off the field.
Get yerselfs down to the club tonight and listen to what is ACTUALLY happening from the Chairman, forums are great but can be so damaging as one persons opinion suddenly becomes the truth.
Think you’ll find that the official site has been brought up to date Ed mainly thanks to jeff and me, upon my return from sunnier climes.
We do though have a slight problem in that the Fixture/Results page has been formatted in such a way that we can not add additional rows easily thus some fixtures are not yet showing. As rabbit is due back from “Down Under” over the week-end then hopefully this problem can be rectified.
