Macauley and Martindale commit until May 2019

Witton Albion are delighted to announce that manager Carl Macauley and assistant Gary Martindale have both signed contracts tying them to the club until May 2019.

The duo arrived at the NetDec stadium in November 2015 and oversaw a dramatic improvement in playing fortunes during the 2015/16 season before masterminding an excellent 201617 campaign which has seen the club achieve a Play Off finish and enjoy a lengthy run in the FA Trophy.

“Its fantastic news for the club that Carl and Gary have committed themselves to this project” said Chairman Mark Harris. “We first agreed the principle of contracts before Christmas but since then the focus has been on mounting a promotion challenge. We’ve now nailed down terms and contracts are signed.”

“Throughout their time at the club both Carl and Gary have been supremely professional. They have brought much-needed stability and their quality of player recruitment has been quite superb. Their exploits have attracted interest from other clubs so its testament to the faith they have in what we are jointly trying to achieve that they have decided to stay and hopefully finish what they’ve started” Harris continued.

Fantastic News. UTA

Yes this is great news, they can go on and build on what they have so far achieved. UTA

Fantastic news and richly deserved. Whatever the outcome of the playoffs Witton Albion have been a joy to watch and long may it continue. Keep up the good work Carl and Gary. UTA

Really good news that and well deserved UTA

Got to confess that I did know about this a couple of weeks back but glad its now out in the open. Its absolutely brilliant news these two lads not only know what they are doing but I’ve had several conversations with them and they are always polite and happy to talk about footballing matters. Now that their futures are settled I hope we can get our players futures sorted as well. I would keep all these lads because there is not a better bunch of players anywhere but I guess some might feel they might want to move on.
I do hope though that none of them will. Yes its always a temptation to go for more cash or a bigger club but we’ve seen this with a lot of players before. Witton Albion is a club that tries very hard to look after its players. Ok we can’t pay mega bucks but a friendly warning to all our players you will not get the adulation, great crack, camaraderie, and people who do actually care about you at other clubs. I would point out as an example Alex Titchiner a lad who was brilliant for us but after he returned from Fleetwood he wasn’t quite the same. I believe staying with Witton Albion and playing under Carl and Gary will improve you even more as players so stick around lads all us fans think your the bees knees!!

Super super Carl, super super Carl, super super Carl, Super Carl Macauley lets have this (as I said when Carl was appointed!). This is great news lets hope Carl and all the team can build on this season which has been very good!

Hardly anyone thinks leaving the Albs was a good idea in retrospect.
