Men in white coats

Just been reading on the forum of our nomadic friends about our role in their plight. I have posted it below for all to read and if you wish to feel free to comment.

CWAC & Victoria Stadium - compulsory puchase? 37 minutes ago #92022

This is just a thought. Can we not apply pressure (and that includes the club, the Supporters Trust , Northwich Town Council, our local MPs and Sport England) upon CWAC to compulsory purchase the Victoria Stadium, and the land around it, from THOR, on the basis that this is protecting a sporting venue for town and in order to develop the land around the stadium for other sporting /social facilities for the benefit of the Northwich Town Community as a whole? Another good reason for compulsory purchase would be to allow the development of Witton’s ground for housing. Both clubs could share the stadium which makes common sense and would solve the problem of Witton having to relocate to another area. Both clubs could have the option to purchase the stadium back from CWAC as some time in the future. I have come across a few examples that this has been done by other local authorities in the past with good reason and I think that CWAC should be asked to seriously consider this course of action on behalf of Northwich town community and its council tax payers. This would force THOR is selling the land not back to the club but back to the community of Northwich. We will have the ground back, the stadium will be saved and the CWAC for once would be doing the right thing for Northwich in much the same way they have helped Chester FC. This would require a coordinated effort with everybody involved lobbying CWAC. We should start a petition. The support of Northwich Town Council would be instrumental in helping to achieve this objective. Also, we should also be asking Northwich Town Council to intercede with Witton Albion and open dialogue with them. Why can’t Witton put aside local rivalry for one moment and help another club in trouble. Why can they not see an opportunity to join with Northwich Vics in supporting our fight with THOR. This lack of cooperation between the two clubs is doing the image of Northwich no good. Do Witton really want to see Northwich Vics fold as a club, thus putting to an end a local rivalry that has endured over the years? Would Northwich Vics have helped out Witton Albion if they had been in trouble? The answer is yes, we probably would. And by the way, I object to the many references that I see on this forum about Witton’s ground being called ’ a swamp’. It is not that bad a ground. Furthermore, I would venture to say that a few more VICS supporters should show more respect for the history of Witton Albion as a club and what they stand for. Maybe they would be more willing to help us out if there was more mutual respect between the two clubs and its supporters. That is just my opinion for what its worth.

Ok would we get in trouble? No we are a very well ran club.
Would they help? Can’t even sort themselves out so no.
They had the chance to play at H4H start of the season they said no and burned the very last bridge with us.
I think we should support THOR bringing new jobs into the area.
For the benefit of the town? 300-400 people is hardly the town.
They refer to our stadium as the swamp and claim to be ‘the towns team’ fact of the matter is the town couldn’t care less. They owe too many small businesses money!

They could always rent a pitch at moss farm and play in the Crewe and district league, that ensuring there future.

You have to laugh.

In other news, are the Club to pursue the Northwich Guardian for an official retraction of Mike Talbot-Butler’s statement that Witton refuse to open diaglogue regarding a groundshare due to a “clash of personalities”?

Personally i wasn’t aware there were any personalities on our board to start with!

But seriously, that comment is out of order.

MTB was I think being PC and staying away from the fact that Rushe is an egotistical, arrogant, loudmouth who swanned around WP as if he owned it when he was a “tenant” apparrently insulting the ground and people who worked there voluntarily and i believe there were more issues as well, now i wonder why Witton wont be talking to to them about groundshare.

PC or not his letter says “It was very disappointing to learn that two efforts to obtain an agreement with Witton Albion for a ground-share had failed” which is pretty specific. For legal reasons i’ll avoid saying who I think told him that

Just about the most one-eyed thing I have ever read.

So basically, for the good of the community. Witton Albion should give up their ground to play in a council owned stadium, all for the greater good of Northwich Victoria? Don’t make me laugh.

That post stinks of desperation, they lived life on the edge and now they’re falling into a pit. Sounds like justice to me.

Would Northwich Victoria help Witton Albion? Would they b***ocks! Why should we pay for their mistakes?!

Correct on al accounts though I can’t help thinking there was a deal to be done in ground share .would have netted WAFC a grand a week (more?) which could have been put to good use. That’s not just a business view ,the Vics geezer is correct ,i am sure the vics would be missed if honest and more fun if WAFC held al the cards/towns best team etc

Club shop I was looking forward to my tea, to reproduce that sh!t on our site is out of order
As for Talbot Butler well For humanities sake (wee and fire =no)

Some things are worth more than money.

Also witton physically couldn’t fit any more games in at the HFH due to agreements with other teams.

Do I want to see Vics fold? Not particularly, what I want to see is the club and its supporters pay for all the years they cheated, spending money they simply did not have. They laughed at us when we were relegated twice, our turn to laugh I think. North West Counties is where they should be if they can find a ground, DEFINITELY not on our pitch! AS for the Council baling them out, not with MY money, I will never vote for any councillor who even considers doing it and I know thousands of local people who will agree with me. Vics, you made your bed now lie in it, oh I forgot, you have no “bed”!
WHS.
