Following a complaint from match officials at a home game the club would like to remind fans of Witton Albion and any visiting club of the below;
OFFENSIVE AND/OR RACIAL LANGUAGE OR CONDUCT
As a family-oriented, community-based club, Witton Albion will not accept the use of offensive language or behaviour by any spectator, regardless of their affiliation. Witton Albion’s stewards are under instruction to immediately warn any spectators as to their conduct should offensive remarks of this nature be made to a player, official or fellow fan. A continuation of this behaviour will result in offenders being ejected from the stadium without refund. Persistent offenders may be subject to a ban from the stadium, the duration of which will be at the discretion of the board of directors.
Anyone found to be using racially-offensive language or behaviour will be ejected from the stadium. Persistent offenders will be subject to a mandatory lifetime ban. The Football Association has been notified accordingly.
I completely agree with any racist abuse should be dealt with, but swearing on the terraces pathetic in my opinion!!! Well the stewards are going to be busy and I can’t see anybody on the Popular Side being in the ground by full time!
If the officials were in anyway doing their jobs properly then there would be no abuse, but that’s irrelevant it’s again the fans in the wrong… Utter rubbish!!!
Racial abuse not heard any at Witton, and totally unacceptable in any form.
Just so we’re clear which incident does it refer to? the place ain’t that big that people can’t be identified and brought to book for misdemeanours rather than a draconian sweeping statement being sent out.
The judge and jury obviously has no problem with regard to encroachment onto the pitch area to verbally confront officials
I’ve NEVER EVER heard one single racist comment by any Wittoner, so they can feck off with that for a start!
As for a bit of effing and jeffing at the officials what about tens of thousands of fans at premiership grounds chanting “The referees a ******” or “who’s the ******* in the black”. The officials who made a complaint AT OUR GROIUND OUGHT TO GROW UP!
Racism is a definite “No” “No” but swearing at a football ground has happened since the first ref got the first decision wrong and though I am totally against swearing normally anyone who takes offence from it in a football ground should not be in a football ground in the first place, they should try croquet!!
WHS.
Things like the above link are what the FA want to see. They are the governing body for football we are under an obligation to follow their instruction. If someone makes a complaint to the FA about something that has occurred at any game the club has a responsibility to act, if they don’t they may be subject to fines or worse.
I have personally challenged foul and abusive language at the ground in the past when it was totally out of context, directed at one person and in front of one of our junior teams and I would do so again. I don’t want my child hearing the language that some people use in any football ground but at the same time I wouldn’t stand behind the goals or on the popular side with her as there is a lot of passion there and people should be allowed to express themselves freely, but perhaps exercise some self restraint at times.
I’m sure everyone will agree that there are times when any form of abuse is unacceptable. However there is a gulf in difference between having a moan and a grumble about a decision an official has made immediately after it, and a sustained verbally abusive attack on officials, players or supporters after a game. Whilst I’m not condoning the use of any foul or abusive language a degree of common sense needs to be applied to this because as Johnny says the ground would be empty if it wasn’t!
The officials will always get verbally abused especially if we keep getting clowns like we had today!
Ask Alan spruce if you want more details
Racism should not be tolerated in any context end of.
But swearing?

Exactly, people spend most of their time refining their language suppressing their frustrations at home work etc. People pay good money to stand on the terraces so that they can swear, get angry and shout abuse for an hour and a half. They could not do this at work or in the middle of the town centre as it would be inappropriate but they can let off some steam on the terraces and it is acceptable. It is a kind of therapy really! If you deprive the fans of this therapy/safe way to release their frustrations then how are they going to let off steam fighting in the pubs? etc IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT COZ THAT’S WHAT’LL HAPPEN!

I want my child to hear this language. I have been going to football matches since I was a kid and I don’t go round gratuitously swearing because I am an intelligent human being who is socially aware and knows how to behave in different situations. I want to teach my children that swearing is inappropriate in certain situations but that it can also be funny and a way of expressing yourself in the right situations. If Witton ban swearing then I will have to take my children to somewhere else where there is plenty of swearing to be heard.
I agree, I would only put up with bad language when it wad said in the moment, not the chanting we sometimes hear.
The chants are all part of the humour and culture of football and assuming you still come to games then you do put up with it so your above statement is incorrect.
More swearing please

What a ridiculous post, which has confirmed my thoughts that there is a Troll in the midst
I think enough has been said on this topic, so lets agree not to agree!
As Rabbit said in an earlier post, the club were obliged to be seen to take action because an FA Official had made an official complaint. Putting the post on our website most probably averted a hefty FA fine, one of which we could not afford, and may have resulted in us getting rid of one of our better players to fund the fine.
