Well I for one will be there! It might not be the biggest prize in non league football but our lads still have to go out on the pitch and do a job and they will still need our support!

it may not be the biggest cup .but what a chance to show everybody (1874) that we are all together as one .and that we are the biggest club in northwich(in there case winsford) and to get behind the lads for there great finish to the season and to show our support .to not only the lads but also the board ( to some also its about local bragging writes) UTA

Gents.

You should cut us some slack and humour us.
We are a pub team playing in the minor leagues and to come to the big city with show -business chairmen with huge wealth, corporate hospitality, and play a proper team in the big league is a big event for us.
Please allow us our moment in the sun before we slip quietly back into obscurity although we will remember this game playing a proper senior team for ever.
We know our place.

Hang on, do I detect a hint of sarcasm? :pinch:

No Sarcasm there from Major Major He is of course correct, little club, no ground, no money, no history, playing a cup final vs the biggest richest team in the town (albeit not their town ) with over 125 years of history great time for the little plastics.

Not gonna lie I am looking forward to this one  Just hope we do go full strength team, Titch, Hopley, Andrews and King ha ha! Don’t come up against quality like that every week do they?

I hope that our little team will not be overawed and can do your footballing royalty justice.

Back to the Dog and Duck league tonight against AFC Darwen.

Went to Barnton last night. Wish I hadn’t.
Weather was awful and the football was worse.

Hopefully 1874 will bring a little more to the party next week

United carp but till a big cub as are another United, Leeds. It is potential that makes big clubs, we have some, you have none.

Hopefully they will bring a team !! They have struggled in the past with cup comps at short notice :woohoo:

Usually whs, your posts are quite sensible, but on this occasion…what load of crap!
Clubs are considered big either on
a.the size of the club support wise,
or
b.the amount of trophies won
On either occasion your are not a big club. I agree you have potential but you’ve had 3 years as the sole club in Northwich and you wasted a good opportunity to make the most of this because your fans are lazy!
I’ve seen lots on here saying we need to do this and that and they actually do nothing!
I’ve read the amount of work you’ve put in, and tbh, you are the type of supporter your club needs but unfortunately your a minority.
There are a lot of good people at 74 putting in hard work to make it a success so if we want to talk potential!!

Well you can’t be one of them! You seem to spend most of your free time posting on our forum!

By your definition Villa are not a big club or Juventus or Newcastle but we all know that given investment and good results they can be big clubs again like say Man City who not too long ago were in the third tier of English football. A successful Witton would attract much bigger gates because they have past, present and future, you only have the present.

By my definition all three ARE big clubs as the latter two are well supported and villa have won numerous cup and titles.
City despite being in the third tier were still well supported so again fitting into the big club description.

1874 are now in their 3rd season so I believe the other two count as past/history unless the definition of the these have changed?
Any team attracts bigger crowds when they are successful regardless of its history/past etc, it’s not a rocket science statement is it!

Three seasons in a “Dog and Duck” league is not a history, it is a joke. And because you have no ground or financial backing you have no real future. Witton on the other hand have a glorious past in the old Cheshire League and the old Northen Premier League, their own ground and are about to receive a substantial sum of money plus the cash from the REAL Vics. ( if they actually pay up, personally I think they are an inch from extinction.)
Now please go away and talk to the other deluded fans of the TOTALLY wrongly named Northwich 1874, you are not in Northwich nor was your original club formed in 1874!!
