Mid-Cheshire F.A. Senior Cup

Following Rudheath Social (1-0) and Barnton (3-0) triumphing over Lostock Gralam and Middlewich Town respectively then the draw for the Quarter Finals of the 2013-2014 Competition reads:

Congleton Town v 1874 Northwich

Northwich Victoria v Rudheath Social

Winsford United v Northwich Flixton Villa

Witton Albion v Barnton

As two of these teams don’t play in Mid Cheshire what are they doing in this competition?
WHS.

i think they cant play home games outside the mid cheshire district but can still enter the competition

Ourselves aside this looks more like a sunday pub league cup draw. Surely time to consider not entering this competition (if possible)?

According to the Club website the tie against Barnton next Tuesday, October 1st has a 5.45pm kick off.

Probably to save money by not putting the floodlights on! Makes sense.

Surely this must be a mistake as the players all have daytime jobs from both teams and would need to be at the ground by half four!

Good spot!

My mistake, which has now been corrected.

Apologies for misleading you

I reckon for this game we should pick 11 long time supporters names out of a hat and let them play the tie. The competition is a joke.

I dont really agree we should use of squad of course and try to win it ! it might be achance to win a game and score as well - winning is a a habit they say, teams should suppport the local FAs who in turn support grass roots in the main especially junior football.

Agree with CJ. our record in the local competitions has been pretty poor in recent seasons, and with the way morale seems to have been going (on the terraces aswell) a few wins, a tie against one of the green teams (whatever you think of them, meeting one of them in the semi or something would bring a good gate and maybe one or two stragglers back in) and the possibility of some silverware can only be a positive thing.

I know this competition isn’t the top priority for witton but it’s still a game that’s there to be won so let’s all get down there tonight and support the lads. We all know how badly we need to start winning again and It can only be a confidence boost if we get a good result.
UTA

A comfortable 5-0 win for the Albs with goals spread about the team, we played some nice football at times and hopefully it willl spread a bit of confidence UTA

A brief summary of tonight’s game is now on the Match Reports section.

Good tactics to only play 3 at the back. We totally ran midfield and should have had a hat-full. Lots of good performances and nothing really to get het up about (Please note, Pritch - we love you and don’t want you to lose your voice or get a hernia…). Nice to see another goal from Sir Michael. They are all special to me.

Any news on the other ties, or the semi draw?

Vics played in the league last night. Flixton villa play rudheath social next Tuesday and kronenberg 1664 played a friendly at runcorn Last night for some reason?!

Easy to see the confusion what with three teams bearing the TOWN name and none of them playing there. bangwall

Joining US so far in the semi-finals are Winsford and The Snake’s Congleton Town, The original lizards get to have a go at Rudheath next Tuesday.
