MIDDLEWICH 0 ALBION 2

Albion played Middlewich, for the very first recorded time in pre-season, as a thank you part of the deal that had taken midfield player Mark Jones to Witton last season.

It was a very experimental line-up that took the field and amongst the players was the very experienced right-back Chris Adams who had just been released by Altrincham. Tristron Hendricks?s late arrival saw him only on the sub?s bench.

Throughout the opening period there were several challenges going in that seriously questioned the name pre-season ?friendly?! Unfortunately Steve Connors got himself involved far too much and really needs to question his exuberance.

The opening goal on 15 minutes saw referee ? Graham Edgeley ? apply a good advantage following Lee Murphy?s awful challenge on Anthony Marshall. The ball broke for ALISTAIR BROWN to cut into the box and send a shot wide of, another former Albion player, Kevin Whitehead?s outstretched right hand and in to the far side of the net.

Nearly half the side were replaced at half-time and just after the hour mark keeper Whitehead picked up a defender?s back-pass, giving Albion an indirect free-kick ten yards out. Mark Jones tapped the ball to MIKE MOSELEY who struck his shot through the entire Town side assembled on their goal-line.

TEAM:- Worsnop (Walker H/T); Brown Ally, Adams, Pritchard, Furnival; Gaghan (Trainer 62), Foy (Jones H/T), Connors (Hendricks H/T), Whalley (Barhill H/T); Haughton (Brown Alex 70), Marshall (Moseley H/T).
