Eli is right, free speech is what it’s all about.
Surely an active forum is healthy, and you play your part in the very existence of this one, but you shouldn’t dictate like you did in this instance.

As much as I am not a UTD fan the thread shows the supremacy of the club over the years.81 years since they let in 6 goals !! What a record ?
I hate the bl***y club but have common sense to respect it.Stats are interesting and indeed enviable.
That is the end of it I hope and I agree with MT to lock it while a very important tie was being played.

Kindly point out any thread where this has happened? I can’t remember ever doing that.
I doubt you will find any forum anywhere on any topic that has less moderation applied to it. That is very much down to the users. To apply a temporary lock to one thread, for a very specific reason, with a message saying that the thread would be re-opened on request is, I put it to you, a very reasonable action.

I am not the only moderator, but I am the overall administrator and as such at (very infrequent) times I will dictate. Anyone is entitled to have an opinion as to whether it was right to lock the thread, nevertheless I am the one who makes the final decision.
Let’s get back to the main function of this forum, discussing topics to do with our great club.
On balance I agree with Mike, it was a temporary lock and had an explanation, and most importantly no hidden agenda just thinking of witton.
Storm in a teacup as far as I am concerned. I saw no reason to lock the thread but Mike T is in charge so his decision.
