Morpeth Town vs Witton Albion.

Fingers crossed there are no meteorological interventions this weekend and Witton Albion can get back into action after an enforced four-week layoff caused by the weather.

Storms Ciara, Dennis and Jorge meant that matches against Matlock Town, Stalybridge Celtic and Basford United United were all postponed, but conditions appear to be set fairer this weekend so hopefully it will be game on at last!

Last time out, on February 8, Albion fell to a 3-1 defeat away at Ashton United, losing striker Will Jones in the process after he suffered a double fracture of the jaw.

That means he will be unavailable for the remainder of the season, but boss Carl Macauley has brought in James Hooper on dual registration from Altrincham, and the forward could make his Witton debut in the North East.

Another player missing for The Albs will be Adam Anson. The central defender joined Southport at the end of January, was loaned back to Wincham Park, however that loan period has now expired, so there will be another change in the starting line-up.

Former Everton, Cardiff City and, most recently, Warrington Town defender Tyrone Duffus has joined the club and like Hooper could make his first appearance in an Albion shirt.

Hosts Morpeth site four points better off than ourselves in 9th position in the BetVictor NPL Premier Division despite having played four games fewer than Carl Macauley’s men.

They were in action on Tuesday night, picking up a 1-1 draw away at Matlock Town, meaning they are now unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions.

Kick-off at Craik Park is at 3:00pm.
