Mossley AFC v. Witton Albion

Witton face a tough test on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Mossley in a Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

The Lilywhites are currently fourteenth in the table under the guidance of manager Alex Craddock, two points behind Witton from the same number of games.

They have won once in their last five league games, beating Atherton Collieries last weekend but have lost three of the other four.

Witton will be looking to complete the double over their opponents following a 3-2 victory at the U Lock It Stadium earlier in the season.

Goals from Geffry Ebhote and the departed Max Harrop and Remi Raymond secured the points in Albion’s favour.

Witton will be hoping to get back to winning ways following a disappointing result against Newcastle Town last Saturday, but games against Mossley are always keenly contested and this one will be no different.

A familiar face in the Lilywhites squad is likely to be former Albion striker Connor Hughes who has joined from North West Counties side Daisy Hill, he will certainly keep the Witton defence on their toes.

Witton sit in twelfth place going into the game and will be looking to pick up three valuable points as they aim to climb the table.

Kick off at Premier Kia Seel Park is 3pm.

Witton remain in twelfth place in the table and are next in action again next Saturday when we travel to Atherton Collieries for a 3pm kick off.

Not a great day to watch a 0-0 draw, freezing cold and a gale blowing that plus the poor pitch made it hard to play football but at least Witton tried Mossley less so!

We had a very good penalty shout turned down definitely handball in the box after 3 minutes and 3 good chances spurned by Garbutt, Duckworth and Hoyle over the 90, but a draw was probably a fair result.

Not convinced our 4 4 2 worked with Lowe and Edwards out wide, if going that way I would have Sotona there who has a bit of pace.

Another issue is that Bairstow now takes a long throw at every chance, 2 points on that we don’t generally profit from them Garbutt might glance them on but nobody gets on the end and it leaves Bairstow out of position and we need him In place to win and control the midfield.

Use it by all means but as an option. To sum it up we were the better side and battled well but little fluency.

On to Colls next. UTA

Just listened to Mossley’s manager Alex Craddock’s post match interview and he admitted himself that Witton should have had a penalty.
