Mossley AFC vs Witton Albion (PSF).

Witton return to pre season action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Mossley AFC. The game represents part of the 100th anniversary from when the Cheshire County League was formed. The two clubs had numerous memorable meetings during their times together in the Cheshire League but, our paths haven’t crossed as frequently in recent years. Mossley have enjoyed a productive pre season programme so far, having won six out of seven friendlies so far the last being against Abbey Hey in midweek. Most of their games have been played away from their Seel Park home and they will provide Witton with a very difficult test as the new season approaches. Following this game, they have further friendlies against neighbours Stalybridge Celtic and Ashton United ahead of their first competitive game. Witton have had a break in pre season and have so far only played three games, the last encounter being a comfortable victory at Vauxhall Motors but the lads will be looking to continue their recent form as they look forward to another Premier Division campaign. Mossley also have a couple of familiar faces in their squad, Goalkeeper Dylan Forth & midfielder Nicky Platt are well-known certainly to Witton supporters and their assistant manager Phil Carratt, also had a brief spell with Albion during his playing career. Kick off at Seel Park is 3pm.
