My Gran

My gran was born on the Warrington Road opposite the Central Ground. My Mum was held on the shoulders of Frank Fidler after Witton had won the Cheshire Cup in the 50’s. My Dad and my brother are shareholders. I sold programmes at the old ground for years while I was still at school.A lot of people reading this have similar family connections with Witton. Where do we go from here? Back to Wincham Park next season because Witton is where we go. So we lost another race for promotion. So what? Witton is our club.

I’ve moved around the country a bit and everywhere I’ve gone I’ve tried to support one of the non-league clubs nearby. It never works. Truth is the standard of football isn’t entertaing enough to keep you entertained for long. Witton don’t need to entertain me to keep me interested, Im interested because the club is almost in my blood and theirs will always be the first result I look for, wherever I am. Gutted yes, but still Witton through and through. All the best for the summer everyone, see you in July for the pre-season against Conway reserves…

Great posting Chris.
Now the Albion.

Excellent post Lowe junior.I have only lived in Northwich for past 28 years and do not have legendary family connections like your good family, family Chadwick and many more.
I have followed more or less since settling here and consider myself 100% wittoner through and through which also includes my boys.
Yes,I am gutted but as you so rightly say it’s the club that counts. We will rise again.
So let’s say loud and proud,
COME ON WITTON

Well said son,I said more or less the same on the other thread before I saw yours. I may only be a part time supporter (and to be honest I could not care less about any other football team, including so-called “England”) but though I am not fussed about football per say, I am passionate about Witton, though they have driven me nuts for the past 50 years or so. I have said I will never go again 100s of times in the past, but in the end I always return and I will probably do so again. Witton is not a football club, it is a “state of being”
WHS.

My Gran could have taken a better penalty than Rapley

I thought it was agreed not to blame the players as they all did their best, Rapley must be devastated at his miss. I am damn sure he did not do it intentionally.
WHS.

Lets look to new season and stop moaning about what could have been.thats my thoughts at the moment, yes we need to know if the team is going to be the same with perhaps one or two going and one or two coming in,or is the squad going to be kept together for the new season, and that goes to the management to who i feel have done a great over the past 2-21/2 seasons.its the best football we,ve seen for a long time at wincham park for a long time, long may this player/ managementteam, stick to gether for the new season, and show them how much faith we have in them,ok if jim is ambitious and as a better offer from another club, then i think he himself has to look at what is on the table at the time and decide.

Excellent post Chris, very well said.

I’m on the Green side of the family (second cousin!) and I remember arguing with Andy and yourself at Primary over which team was the best! It is good to see that after all these years, you’ve stuck by them, just as I have with the Vics.

I’ve talked to a few Wittoners this week, and they’ve said they’ve had enough. But when your blood’s red (or preferable green! ) then you have to stick by your team. It’s not always easy, but it’s what you’ve got to do.

Well done for posting from the heart

No matter what league ended up in next season we would still go down and shout for the albion. I been a fan for the last 17 years we played Kiderminster in fa trophy semi and still is the best game i have ever been to even better than istanbul 05 and the fact is i’ve been hooked ever since. now my kids our old enough to come(plus one on the way) they love it to. What else would we do on saturday.
