Radcliffe Boro’ today have announced they have agreed a four figure fee with Witton Albion for defender Ian Kearney. The 20 year-old former Clitheroe defender agreed to the move after talks with the ?Boro? management about the future of the club and manager Andy Johnston said ?As everyone is aware we have taken the initiative and spoke to all the players (contract players first) in relation to next season and our ambitious plans for next season, however Ian indicated he wanted to move on. We could have held onto his registration and kept him at the club for next season but we made it quite clear we only wanted players who were 100% committed to the club and its future and we would not wish to keep players who were not of the same thoughts as we were,?

Kearney joined the club in February 2006 and made his debut in the 2-0 defeat away at Ossett Town and went on to make 52 appearances scoring 4 goals. Manager Johnston said ?It is disappointing Ian has decided to move as we would have kept him in the squad for next season, but that is his choice and we respect that and also wish him the best of luck for the future, we are confident we will be able to replace Ian next season with a quality signing of our own, which we were working on already.? The deal also sees the club receive 20% of any fee received by Witton Albion in any future move for the player should it arise.

hmm seems the players fund shall be needin another boosting then! Never heard of this bloke hope hes worth every penny like! Can help to bolster the strength and depth of the squad! Come on Witton!
