I’ve just composed this one! “They can all stick it right up there ar***, the bunch of useless c****” Had enough of it here.
Dear Marston Mauler, I think you have gone over the top with this comment. I have supported Witton for over sixty years, they have let me down more times than I care to remember but I will still turn up to watch whenever I can and I hope you will too, it’s what supporters do. “Once a Wittoner, always a Wittoner” even if you prefer Rugby!!
WHS.
Yes of course you are right WHS, that’s why I have often not posted on here in anger, but yesterday I did! The capitulation at Stamford was just too much! I apologise for my somewhat innapropriate comment.
Sorry didnt see either of you at Stamford but im sure you have some really good reasons for not being there,Not you pair obviously but its amazing what excuses for not being there people actually come up with when youre not winning,
I would like to thank the 13 “Loyal Wittoners” who did bother to turn up for the “Supporters” bus, It was a great day out despite the result!and i couldnt think of any better company to spend a Sunny Saturday afternoon with.
Entrance music why not try, “Should I stay or should I go”, or as were fast becoming “Only the Lonely”.
Sheffield Lee, If your logged on Ive booked you in at the Slow and Easy for next Saturday, will try and e-mail you the details during the week, Cheers!
I would have made it to Stamford, if I possibly could have! Well done to those proud few who made it!!
That nice tune about chasing butterflies, or dragonflies, for Saturday would be nice!
Considering the new sponsorship deal, how about David Bowie’s Heroes Song?
I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be heroes, just for one day
And you, you can be mean
And I, I’ll drink all the time
'Cos we’re lovers and that is a fact
Yes we’re lovers and that is that
Though nothing will keep us together
We could spend time, just for one day
We can be heroes for ever and ever
What d’you say?
I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, for ever and ever
Oh we can be heroes, just for one day
I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be heroes, just for one day
We can be us, just for one day
I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)
And the guards shot above our heads (over our heads)
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall)
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be heroes, just for one day
We can be heroes (x3)
Just for one day
We can be heroes
We’re nothing and nothing will help us
We knew you’re lying
Then you better not stay
When can be heroes just for one day
Oh oh oh oh (repeat to fade)
Right on time by Black Box still packs a punch.
Well done Thatch. In light of the news, it’s got to be Bowie’s “Heroes”
“we can be heroes - just for one day!”
I still think “I’m holding out for a hero” by Bonny Tyler is the best bet, especially now we have “Help the Heroes” on our shirts!
WHS.
Don’t disagree with your sentiment WHS, but I do disagree with your choice of song, because basically…it’s a crap song!
Come on, it’s got to be Bowie!
Brilliant shout TT! ‘Heroes’ by Bowie would be perfect.
Coincidentally, I was reading a piece about Bowie by the DJ Mark Radcliffe only a few days ago in which he wrote about ‘Heroes’:
" an epic sweep of a song which seems to empower the listener even as he or she is listening to it. It may be the greatest pop record ever made"
Sorry, never been a big fan of Bowie, basically because he couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket, just like Dylan. They write good stuff though.

New entrance music for this season.“The Only Way Is Up”
Sounds a great suggestion to me TT, wholly appropriate, a good upbeat tune and with significant meaning to the sponsor and the players wearing the shirt!
Good call.
I like your suggestion Stevie G. Cottage Pie was great, but not as great as Witton will be on Saturday. “Rave On”, Buddy Holly and the Crickets?
WHS.
I sent an email to Chad to see what he thought about the idea. He generally agreed, but the whole concept of playing music whilst the players come onto the pitch has changed.
His reply was:
The whole problem that the FA have given us is that due to their “Respect” campaign firstly the team no longer run out onto the pitch.
They walk on, alongside the opponents then line-up to shake hands and in no time at all they are called to the middle with hardly any pre-kick-off kick around these days.
All this means that in order to announce the teams, officials, sponsors, important messages etc - and it has to be done fairly slowly - then to play any music as well is nigh impossible in such a short space of time.
I only wish we could revert back but I can’t see how we can give any tune, song real justice and meaning.
Sorry to appear negative on this but to quote another very good song - “That’s just the way it is.”
Maybe we can play the tune (whichever we choose), 5-10mins before kick-off, and also as they run out for the 2nd half?
There is no rule that says the supporters cannot sing, so come on you lads behind the goal, sing the team out, choose a song and go for it!
WHS.
At anfield they play gerry and the pacemakers just before the teams walk out, in fact they que in the tunnel and wait for it to finish before they do walk out, so maybe just a bit of subtle timing is needed??
