I find it difficult to believe but I think I am getting excited about a new football seaon for the first time in years. Not the Premier League, or even the World Cup you understand, the England Rugby tour “Down Under” is far more important to me than either, but our assault on the Evo Stick 1st Division North (or whatever it is called). If a Rugby fan like me is excited I don’t know how you lot are fairing! I have a feeling in my water that this is going to be OUR season, no idea why, I just have a strong feeling that out of adversity will come triumph. “COME ON THE ALBS”!!!
WHS.
I feel the same way too!! The last two managerial decisions were doomed from the start but Mark and the board have made the best possible choice here and like WHS I’m optimistic as Paul Ogden has a good track record. Its just a pity that he wasn’t brought in to supplement Nigel Deeley at the time as I think that partnership might have flourished.Anyway I think we can at least look forward to a manager who will use the resources to the best of his ability and hopefully we could get in the play offs. OK if we can’t get promoted what we should be looking for is some progress on the playing side with 100% genuine effort from the team. Thats something we didn’t see last season at times!!
Play Offs? Play Offs? Champions!!!
WHS.
yes let’s go for champions, not playoffs. let’s have some ambition, and get down to wincham park from the off and cheer the team on.the chairman and the board have done their bit, now let us fans do our bit and get down there and urge the team on to better times. COME ON YOU REDS.
Absolutely right!! It sickens me changing manager-new team, changing manager-new team etc etc etc HOWEVER I’m feeling really positive about the new management set-up!! No news on signings though the new Chester FC are announcing thier signigs as they make them (including Carl Ruffer, good luck to him!) COME ON THE ALBION!!!
“Act in haste, repent at leisure”. I think the manager has plenty of time to find what he is looking for, no rush. If we have a squad settled by the end of July that will be soon enough in my opinion.
WHS.
One thing is certain, we will be playing at Wincham Park this season but maybe as early as next season we might be in new premises. I lke the idea of Moss Farm but I am not sure local people will let us, nor do I think we have the fiances or set up to run the whole site as was once proposed. A share with Northwich Rugby Club? Very doubtful for two main reasons, one, Rugby and football on the same pitch are not really compatible, grass needs to be longer for a Rugby match than for a Football match and two Northwich have no need of a walled in ground, they have too few supporters.
WHS>
I sincerely hope you do not have fiances WHS otherwise she who must be obeyed will not be amused. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
Shush!!!
WHS.
I bet she still wishes she was his fiance - then she could cancel the wedding !

I also like the MF idea and from your comments I assume you maybe a blue when it comes to odd shaped balls
WP is in the way of a large housing opportunity
The stadium of incomplete is a white elephant and too big for the town
Cheshire FA want a posh place to play
NRUFC do need a walled ground, behind V*cs and ourselves they had the 3rd highest match attendance £0’s entry - a walled ground = £££’sss, doesnt need to be the same pitch if you have joint club house with pitches either side
NRUFC also have full size floodlit grassed area through the winter.
There are many clubs and organisations in this town, it is too small for all of us to have our own specific area, build partnerships not profit!!
Even the news that we’ve lost 2 players Ruffer to Chester and Maylett to Rhyl can’t dampen my enthusiasm for the new season.I’m sure our new Gaffer will get in, more than adequate replacements, and that they will be players more committed to the cause.
Not really sure whats going on at Moss Farm as this new council seems to work behind closed doors behind the public gaze at least as far as Northwich is concerned!!Reading the Guardian yesterday even Sammie Naylor did not know anything about the extraordinary meeting they were having behind closed doors to discuss its future.
I certainly think that we’ll get no support or co-operation from an council organisation run in Chester so we need to go it alone for our future.
As WHS has pointed out there are only 4 options I think -:
- Stay put and hope to raise more weekly income by opening the club up every night (though I think we would need to give it a cosmetic facelift to get rid of the canteen look that Mike Worthington introduced)
2)Move to Lostock and build up a ground with them so would need at least £2.5 million for sale of our ground and there would probably be nothing left!! - Find some new land around Northwich nearer the town (No chance really as anywhere half decent will be earmarked for retail/housing development and Chester West Council will not give a toss about Witton Albion FC.
- Buy Vics ground cheaply for say £1.2 million and leave yourself with capital of £1.3 million provided all the questions raised on other posts can be answered in the positive!

Black Greyhound soon up for lease and land behind it up for sale shortly aswell, CWAC can only sell off the franchise/operation side of Moss Farm not the land and its assetts, so I understand…
That’s even further from the town centre Grazzer. Eli, I’ll have you know my wife is extremely happy having me as her husband and she swears the bits of glass that keep appearing in my mashed spuds are non of her doing and must havde been put in the spuds by Tesco.
WHS.
I guess the ground move will keep rumbling on, I will keep quiet about it now until the board have something to say to us shareholders, Has any one got any news on potential signings ? its very quiet nothing like keeping interest going over the summer with some news on signings GOD I hate the close season
C.J. Try taking up Bowls or Cricket, there is a very good cricket team in the town called Northwich… (perhaps not!!)
Looks like you’ll just have to go shopping with the wife on a Saturday until the season starts!!
WHS.
You know how I go on about being a jinx? Well I bought a brand new power washer last week and guess what? It doesn’t flaming well work!! If Witton can get over the handicap of having “Jinx Lowe” as a supporter they will win the league no problem!!
WHS.
WHS I think you’ll find the premier cricket team in the town is infact, Winnington Park
