James Turley signed for the Albion last night. Nicknamed ‘Turbo’ (let’s hope he generates some good crosses ;D), he began his career with York City, moved to Scarborough, Stalybridge and Harrogate Town.
i think that would be a veyr good assumption wheels and would make us a very dangerous force to be reckoned with in my eyes as i feel whenever witton played down the wings last season we were a big threat
I’m really chuffed with the way Jim has gone about getting fresh players into the club. his signings look good but if I was to nit pick and I must stress it is probably nit picking I’d like to see us get another forward who is of the more physical type. We had Griff last season who could hold the ball in and was not easily wacked off the ball. I think we would struggle to get someone like Griff so we probably need a big physical forward. I say this because Adam W needs that kind of person to play off. I appreciate we have Steve Brodie but I’m not sure how physical he is. He will definately have the experience and hopefully the know how!
I’ve nothing against keeping Carl Frost in the squad but again poor Carl’s injury history is not good. So I feel we might need backup in this area. Who knows we might get a trialist down who could fulfil that role. One fellow who would fit the bill for me would be Karl Furlong. I see he has "Retired" from Vauxhalls yet is still only 27. He could be a good bet if Jim could pursuade him though I appreciate he would have to tow the line with his discplinary record!!
I’d like to think we still have the good relationship with Crewe so getting someone on loan from there remains an option to fill in on emergency situations. I feel we have plenty of cover at the back and I’m sure Liam Brownhill and or Dave Tickle have the skill to fill in in midfield should we get short in that area. In short I’m optimistic we are going in the right direction here and those who have left are being replaced with quality replacements.
The hardwork starts for Jim and Nige in July in getting them playing together as an effective unit but I’m confident the lads will knucle down and produce the goods.
