Next season

Hear hear Mr.Rabbit.
The remarks by Danny and Albion tea hut are very upsetting and it is so sad they feel that way.
We are Wittoners and Witton is our extended family.
i will continue to support our club come what may.
Nuff said.
LONG LIVE WITTON
WE LOVE YOU.X

Albion Tea Hut - obviously has a hidden agenda. No doubt a ‘bitter’ ex ‘friend’ of the club. Cue ‘merger’ talks etc.

Danny - after the number of games many of them p1ss poor you have spent time and effort going to this season I can’t believe you’d agree with those comments.

The purpose, if that was the question, is that we continue as a footballing family, regroup for next season, and in the name of Witton Albion Football Club go forward in whatever league that is. Come back stronger with ‘total financial transparency’, and realistic expectations.

To ask why, is an insult to so many and you only need to visit WP any time during the close season and see the commitment of so many people devoting time and energies to the club.

Comments like those make me personally even more determined to make the Development Fund work next season, we will have an open meeting over the close season and outline our targets and objectives, whilst detailing the extent of our fund raising for last season.

Well said Chad!

well well well ,who would have thought it ,the mighty witton relegated lol, couldnt have happened to a nicer bunch ,:woohoo: all the best chaps ,remember where you heard it first :cheer:

Well relegation is a bitter dissapointment and hardly believable after the last couple of seasons, but surely to question the purpose of the alb is plain daft! What is the purpose of any club in the pyramid? I think it is justifiable however to ask why the whole thing went so terribly wrong!! two very near promotions then a total nonsense of a relegation!! how could this be! mind you look further up the pyramid, Charlton, The Canaries, even the mighty Toon! you just wouldn’t believe it really!

Sorry I dont agree with “the does it have a purpose question”. My mistake I scanned over that message. But the general jist of where the money is going I agree it should be made clearer to us. Obviously raising funds is beneficial for a club like ourselves. But I agree its not made clear as to where the money is going. e.g. Raising over £1k toward the pitch, what does that get us for next season? The £500 from fans that went in, where and when was that spent? If people are blindly putting money in without knowing the answers then more fool them.

Not strictly true.

£1,000 towards the pitch what does that get us for next season. Danny what planet are you on, seventy plus games a season, no pitch= no finance = no club. The pitch has been neglected financially for years if it wasn’t for Sprucie, Pete Robinson and others no games would go ahead. Thought it was just Pritch you didnt like, now its the pitch !

We didnt raise £1k toward it last year. If you read my question you idiot , its asking what, what does £1k get us as opposed to last year! The pitch is already of a better standard than other years. Just because you and the likes of Rabbit seem to know it all doesnt mean we are all kept in the loop of what this money goes to. Im not disputing raising it (again like some you write without thinking, why would I) I have put money I would just like to know what are we getting for our money.

Dannyy, you pay for £9 over the turnstiles (or at least you do now you no longer get comps…), do you ever wonder where that money goes to?

Do not de-value what people do to raise money for this Club. The money people put in out of their own pocket above and beyond what they pay through the turnstiles, in the bar, the club shop, the tea hut.

That money is handled by the likes of Neil Wilson, Andy Chad, Jim Powell. Are you now questionning their integrity?! If you have any doubt about Jim’s love of the Club then just ask him what his son’s middle name is!!

Without people contributing to the Development Fund there would have been no Adam Warlows, no Alex Browns, no 2 seasons of almost winning the league - and remember Danny that you would not have started following the Club again without that success. Without people contributing this season we would not of gone into yesterday with an outside chance of staying up. In truth we probably wouldn’t have gone into April with an outside chance of staying up.

If you don’t want to put your hand in your pocket then don’t. But don’t come on here suggesting that other people shouldnt do either. People support Witton Albion in whatever way they wish to do so.

Is there a point to the Club anymore?! Not only is that a ridiculous question to ask but it is also hugely insulting to every other club at our level and lower in the footballing pyramid.

Yes there is a point to OUR Club, just like there is a point to Luton for example. Or to Winsford.

My Grandad watched Witton, my Dad watches Witton, I watch Witton, and now my Son watches Witton. To me personally there couldn’t be any greater point to having this football Club - and that’s not even taking into account all of the friends i have made - and continue to make - through following the Club that i love.

Did I question anyones integrity, yet AGAIN people read what they want to read.

Yes I want to know where my £9 goes, all of it. I am not saying people should stop contributing. I wouldn’t, should I be attending next season. But we if we know what the money we have spent gets us, we then know what more we need to get the things the club needs. And what i am saying is for example we raised £1k towards the pitch (well done tracey by the way) do we need £1k for the pitch, or will £500 suffice and then can put £500 of that towards playing budget. People will increase what they put in or more will contribute if we know the financial targets to achieve certain things.

May be if you get down to the ground in the close season you would find out what is required on the pitch ! Sprinkler system over 20 years old, drainage problems, using extra diluted pitch marker, goal posts that need repairing, holes in the terracing due to a poor job done by V*cs etc. If you need to know just ask people personally, you could be part of this “loop”.

Can i suggest Danny that you give the Club a quid every time you post utter garbage on here? We’d be in the football league in no time!

And we’ll even tell you what the money is spent on.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah because we always have to agree with the majority on here, it aint a forum for people to voice their opinions, its a joke.

No Danny it is because you are quite simply WRONG!!!

You seem to have no real grasp of what non-league football is all about.

Like ME says, why don’t you spend some time down at the ground over the summer. It may help you get a better understanding of everything, and prevent you from making a complete prat of yourself on here every other day.

I am EXTREMELY sorry for all the hard core Wittoners that the team they have supported so superbly this season has been relegated but life goes on and so will Witton I am sure. I will be doing my best to find some spare money for the club in the coming months, sadly money has been very tight lately and still is at the moment. (ask them at Vics who are trying, and failing to raise the cash for the ground) Hopefully things will be better for me after the summer is over and I hope it is better for Witton too.
WHS.

danny i suggest that you read my last message under
ground maintenance collection.
posted saturday night.

any problems please ask.

Well - we were all a bit low yesterday but we are all revved up now - roll on next season.

Hi Danny:

Whilst I think you are asking your questions regarding the donations that Wittoners are making, purely out of frustration at this current time due to the team’s relegation, I do think you deserve a straight answer. Whilst I’m no longer an official at Witton I’ll hopefully have some experience of where money is spent and trust it will give you some indication why Wittoners give so generously, not only in money terms but their valuable family time also.
The figures that I am quoting are random in some cases but I think it’ll give you a taste of the real world of a non-league football club.

Let’s start with 18 April when the team travelled to Worksop:

To get there (eventually!) by coach will have cost £350.
To play Worksop the team will have been paid approx £1000 per week [as stated earlier these are just random figures].
Off to Whitby on Wednesday (eventually!!) by coach will have cost £550.
Before we kick a ball versus Guiseley there will be the cost of £1000 to be found for the team (where’s that week gone?)
Referees fees/expenses for yesterday approx £150.
Kit washing for the three games approx £100.

That is a total outlay of £3150.

The gate yesterday was 380 but not everyone is a spring-chicken like you Danny so the old-uns only pay half. Let’s average it out at £7 each = £2660. Add on other inputs like HT draw (say £100) and the tea-hut which made a profit yesterday of £250.

This is income of £3010.

Programme sales will have been ok yesterday as I understand they sold out - offset that against, for instance, the Prescot game when there were lots left over and, whichever the situation, the printers need paying.

Free - I know that’s a four letter word but the volunteers who clean the dressing rooms, maintain and mark the pitch, steward, help in the tea hut today at the junior finals, help in the boardroom etc are saving your football club a shed-load of expense.

So, go back to the maths above and you’ll clearly see where the money goes, where the shortfall is (and I’m being very random with some of the costs) and why it is so important that anyone who supports (and cares) about Witton gives as much as he/she can.
If you don’t want to Danny, don’t, but I bet the ground maintenance lads will welcome you with open arms to help with work on the terraces etc during the close season. Do your bit, Danny, and you might just see why they do it.

Also ‘The Albion Tea-Hut’ could you please change your username as your views are not those that would be connected with anyone who works in there.

Sorry for the sermon folks!
