Although it is not over till fat lady sings,I am thinking about life in first division.
Are fund raising schemes like 500 club continuing next year? If so should we make a start sooner than later?
If 500 club is to continue please put me down as a contributor.
LONG LIVE WITTON,WE LOVE YOU.x
Nice one Vi8 :cheer:
As last season I will be running the ELI GORTON SYNDICATE for those supporters who cannot afford to donate large amounts of cash. One of the ways to donate is to save whatever your admission money is each week during the close season and then donate it sometime in August. Any amount is vital for us to exist whichever league we are in next season. Last season we raised almost £1500 - so let’s see if we can beat that. I know that these are difficult times for everybody but this is our club and if we all rally round we can make a big contribution to ensure it’s future.
as Vi8 says " LONG LIVE WITTON WE LOVE YOU "
Hear hear Eli,
Do we get a response,please ??
I started this thread in match reports. My apologies.Perhaps admin people could move it to appropriate section. Many thanks.
LOVE YOU WITTON.X

We will definitely be looking to continue with the activities of the Development Fund next season, provided the commitment is still there from the ‘doers’ and ‘supporters’.
Special mention must go to The Powell and Lyon families, Supporters team, and Neil and Len Holman for their efforts, over the last 3 seasons.
In that time the Development Fund has contributed over £35,000 to YOUR Football Club.
Next season that support will be even more vital - potentially increased travelling costs and reduced gate receipts, will put an even bigger strain on the board and budget.
To all those people who have supported any of the Development Fund’s activities, a massive thank you.
Andy
Yes I will be doing the 200 club again next season, which ever league we are in, once a wittoner always a wittoner, although this doesn’t seem to happen to alot of people, we will always have our regular 200+ wittoners
So get your hands in your pockets as I will be after your £15 as soon as possible
LONG LIVE WITTON ALBION
Andy,I pledge £500 same as last year.
Len, 3 for me please.
As you say once a Wittoner always a Wittoner. LONG LIVE WITTON.
WE LOVE YOU.X:cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
2 Pledges so far. :cheer: Total to date £100 :cheer: :cheer:
Keep em’ coming.
LONG LIVE THE ALBION.
Just to echo Andy’s comments and in thanks to everyone who has contributed this season - not just to this fund but to any of the events and matchday fund raising etc.
Next season is going to be a difficult one for the club, where the support is as crucial as ever.
More details to follow in due course.
Thanks once again.
Well done to you Mr.Lynchpin:)
Thanks to TT the total is now £200.:cheer:
Surely you cant all be seriously thinking of blindly giving your money to the club without any knowledge of where it is going to and who is going to spend it? Come on, get real. Where is the club going? Does it have a purpose anymore? Get those questions answered first.
“Does it have a purpose anymore?”
What sort of question is that?!

Well said!
Why not? Most people have for the last 3 seasons
Did anyone know where all the money went when snake was in charge. …dont think so, wrote the bloke cheques for the soccer schools to two different accounts and after the wednesday of the week he wanted cash!
Didnt bother anyone then did it!
Thats exactly the point I am making! We need to seriuosly consider where we are going and what the point of the club is.
This club is now being run properly with accountablity, integrity and bloody hard work being the priorities. We need to give the Board the backing so that they can make the right decisions on budgeting etc.
No one is under any pressure to donate and comments like the ones from Albion Tea Hut and Danny are an insult to the people who have already pledged.
We learn from history that we learn nothing from history.
Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
History is a race between education and catastrophe
History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce
Take it we will not be getting a donation from George Bernard Shaw then !

Completely agree Eli

Everyone gets chance to voice their opinion at Information Meetings and AGM’s (if you are a shareholder). The shareholders appoint a Board, who in turn appoint a Chairman and a Manager. He chooses his players, sometimes the right ones and sometimes not. Ultimately if you appoint someone to do a job then you back them, up to a point where you feel it necessary to change them.
WAFC is ran more openly than many many clubs, the Chairman and Manager are both extremely approachable and will share information and their opinions with the supporters. Don’t underestimate the size of the task that either individual has faced this season in picking up the pieces, the previous Chairman and last season’s manager are far more accountable for our situation than the present ones.
This football club has been in existence for 125 years and has survived relegations and financial pressure before, and it will again. As disappointing as relegation is, this is just another chapter in the club’s history and it is more about the way we respond to the situation now than the situation itself. We can do nothing about yesterday and can only affect tomorrow!
“Does it have a purpose” is frankly a ridiculous question and it amazes me that any true fan could ask such a thing (although the endorsement of the post comes of little surprise). Do Chelsea have a purpose, after all they lost £65m last year, and more the year before that? Perhaps all football clubs should be closed down on grounds of not serving a purpose? If Chelsea go on to win trophies this season will that serve their purpose?
We went down a division yesterday, that’s all. It is upsetting but frankly that’s what happens when you play in leagues with promotion and relegation. Charlton fans who had away trips to Old Trafford and Anfield a couple of years ago and next year will be going to Yeovil and Colchester. Manchester City went down to the old second division before rebuilding to now be in the top half of the Premiership and until 10 days ago were still in the UEFA cup!!!
This season it was too difficult to overcome the challenges we faced and we went down, now we have to respond.
