Nicky Maynard

Very sorry to hear that Nicky sustained a bad injury in Crewe’s victory over Brighton. A broken fibula and ankle ligament damage.
Best wishes for a speedy, and complete, recovery Nicky.

Absolutely. Shocking news for Nicky, wish him all the best for a speedy recovery. Daft as it sounds it would be nice for the club to officially send him their best wishes, even if only a card. Hope his recovery is swift and without any future problems. He has been very good in coming back to Wincham Park for various events and comes across as a decent lad.

All the best Nicky.

Jim Vince spoke to NM on Monday to offer Witton’s well wishes & despite the dreadful injury he seemed pretty upbeat. Nicky has fractured his fibia & damaged some ankle ligaments through a freakish accident in Crewe’s opening game against Brighton (the team who scored 8 in an F A Cup game last season :D).
Nicky’s studs were caught in the ground after challenging for a ball and he fell awkwardly. Although a serious injury indeed it could have been an awful lot worse but Nick is a positive young man and he has already set a target for his return. He should be back in 3-4 months. The doctor decided not to operate and felt the natural healing process would be best. His leg is in plaster but this should be removed in a month where Nick can start his rehab. Jim did offer to bring NM to one of our home games when he is feeling better.
