Our very own Nicky Platt and the rest of the Team GBR university team will be on Eurosport at 5pm Tuesday in the final of the world university games against France.
Team GBR knocked out a a Russia side that had a value of over €20m, included a current Russian international and a whole host of players with champions league experience.
But any young Englishman has hells own trouble getting a game in the Premier League!

It was Nicky’s free kick which resulted in an England player being kicked in the face after 33mins. Unfortunately, the resulting penalty was poor and the French Keeper made an easy save.
8 mins into the 2nd half, France attacked down the right, and Nicky was caught out for pace. From the resulting cross, 5 players failed to make contact until Great Britains No 2 deflected into hi own net to make it 0-2.
Nicky substituted shortly afterwards.
Team went on to pull back both goals but conceded in the 2nd half of extra-time to lose 2-3. Nicky will no doubt though be proudly showing his silver medal around Wincham Park very soon.
One interesting point is that the Universide Games are 2nd only to the Olympics when it comes to the number of different sports that athletes compete in.
