NIGEL Deeley hopes to appoint his successor as assistant manager later this week.

The new Witton boss told the Guardian he knows who he wants already.

“I’ve spoken to somebody this week,” he said.

“I’m hopeful they will be up for taking the job on.”

Deeley revealed that Dave Millington, used as a goalkeeping coach for Jon Kennedy last season, will have a greater role to play during his tenure.

“I’ll use Dave a bit more than in the recent past,” he said.

"I feel he has a lot to offer out on the training pitch as he’s a huge asset to the club.

“He’ll still be looking after Jon, plus whoever comes in as an understudy.”

Witton’s players report back from their holidays next month ahead of a busy summer programme that features seven friendlies to date.

Log on tomorrow to read Nigel Deeley’s first full interview with the Guardian as he outlines how he plans to approach the job next season.

look forward to nigels views tomorrow.

keep the faith.

I’ve known dave for the 12 years and he told me last season that he was loving being at the club. I know he do witton a great service in his new role(perhaps as replacement for jk should he decide to move on).
