NON LEAGUE PAPER.

Sunday’s NON LEAGUE PAPER carries an interview with Witton Albion Chairman John Salmon.

Witton Albion Chairman John Salmon is confident that the club will be able to cope with the current situation with no matchday or social club income.

The football season for the BetVictor Northern Premier League has been concluded prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has also meant that the social club has had to close its doors.

Despite all that, the Chairman states that the club is in a good position to handle the situation and praised the club’s supporters for making generous donations.

Speaking to the Non-League Paper, he said: "We really got hold of the finances when I took over. I believe we will weather the storm and come out the other side ready for next season.

"It’s because of this approach that we are able to top up the staff on furlough to full pay.

"Despite fans having their own money worries at this time, they continue to donate between £25 and £1,000 every month. I cannot thank them enough.

"Our average gate is around 370, so it really is like a family here.

“I have to mention that Northwich Victoria continue to pay rent for our groundshare agreement even though no football can be played.”

The full interview with the Chairman, including his thoughts on the early postponement of the season, can be read in this week’s edition of the Non-League Paper.
