So when u play against strikers with pace being their best attribute surely it would be better to use a pacy defender. fitness was all that leigh team had about them
I don’t suppose we managed to keep a clean sheet in that game with Pritch at the back then? I don’t suppose in the 600 games Pritch has played for Witton he’s ever come up against strikers as quick and as fit as those that Leigh have?
For tactical reasons you would drop our best defender from the entire match squad, just because Leigh are quick and fit?
(pace and fitness aren’t the same thing by the way. They are different attributes)
a) sandbach aint as far. B) yeah people with more money at their disposal. U may have been able to afford 500 but i cant and that is awful to say that you should be EXPECTED to put your hand in your pocket outside of match day support. I respect those that do. But THAT is not a good advertisement for neutrals reading this thinking about coming to WP. We should encourage any1s support regardless of how big a financial contribution they can make
and to be fair booth is our best defender currently
Firstly, where is my suggestion that you should be expected to put money in outside of match day support? Match day support includes your admission - which you don’t feel you should be expected to pay. My point, that you put your hand in your pocket, is in reference to the fact that you feel that it is unfair that you are no longer able to use a matchday comp.
Secondly, how can you comment on how much money other people have at their disposal?
And how do you know that Dodger hasn’t got a big gas-guzzling monster of a car that drinks twice as much petrol as your’s?!
What is a good advertisement to neutrals? Some of the rubbish you spout on here? Suggesting that you are a special case deserving of free entry to Witton, when there are dozens of people who have been putting much more time and money into this club for years and years but who still pay to get in?
It’s great that you make the trip every week to come and support the team, but that doesn’t make you any more deserving of free entry than it does anybody else who comes through those turnstiles.
You certainly make some ‘intersting’ points Danny.

In that case, how come you would have picked both Dunne and Schwartz ahead of Pritch for the Leigh game?!
tell Ste Hankey I said HI.If you don’t know him he’s the drummer. I’m a Vics fan and Ste deffo knows me! TRICKY! VICS TILL I DIE!
We were more than capable of beating leigh with them in the side since we have them in the squad would be worth giving them a run out they may improve given a couple of games. Pritch or booth got injured we are screwed. Schwarz in particular was decent earlier in the season. A certain ex player told me pritch didnt appreciate my support and said i only criticise the team. So he aint my favourite player n e way
YOUR GOING DOWN!
I currently cannot afford to go to many games, and therefore I don’t attend. Thats unfortunate but thats life. Live within your means and all that. The fact that you constantly spout on about how you’re “Mr Witton” because you’ve only missed 1 game this season gets blown to bits by the fact that you’ve only paid for half of them!!!
tricky, are you that flea ridden moggie from connett towers.?
a new song for you, take these chains from my ermmmmm, ground?.
Seem to remember Danny boy making it to Ilkeston when his car was off the road by train and taxi when some fans could’nt be bothered.B)
Well in that case i hope that you didn’t charge him to get in last night
Andy Chad paid £80 to get a taxi to Halifax in 91. I demand free admission all season for Andrew!!
greenie im starting 2 get a bit peed off with u comin out with bll now. When did i call myself mr. Witton. Grow up with your little boy jibes. U wana give me sht do it 2 my face on sat yeah il b on the half 10 from hartford thats if u are actually gonna turn up to a game.
Oops, touched a nerve!!!
And as for “little boy jibes”, “bull”, and “saying things to peoples faces”, see your remarks about the supporters game.
Danny, I don’t mind being the kettle but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna take it from the pot!!!
And I may have only been wathing Witton for 3 years but thats at least one more than you, and I’ve still been to a f**k load more games than you, soft shite.
Steady on lads. This is not helping anyone.
Let’s stop now,please.
This argument is futile, fans are not judged by the amount that they contribute to the club financially. Circumstances mean that people are able to donate/spend more than others and this does not necessarily make them a better fan. It is also true to say that at times people who do contribute more think they have more of a say and deserve more. It is also true to say that sometimes the time people put in voluntarily is more valuable than an extra £5/£10/£15 - as we could not buy the time that people give with this money!
A fan or in better terms a supporter is naturally passionate about the club and thus entitled to their own opinion, even when they are wrong! By very definition to ‘support’ is to assist or to ‘encourage’. Above all that is what we need our community to do.
I don’t see eye to eye with Danny in regards to many of his posts on this or the Vics forum, but that just happens to be my opinion. I’m very happy to tell him when I think he’s wrong but hopefully it does not degenerate into argument, generally it is lighthearted. Might get a bit frustrating but this is a forum! I don’t always agree with Robbo (FCUM away being an example where we disagreed strongly), but it does not stop us from being mates.
Having said the above Danny has been committed to turn up and spend his hard earned cash watching Witton and I wish we had more people doing the same. I don’t think bring up the issue of comps does him any favors, things like that should be kept personal between the individual and the player/club (not discussed to the point of p***ing off people that have always paid on the gate regardless of circumstance).

well said! id love to get to every game but same as other ppl either work gets in the way or just cant afford it… ive been to several away games this year…and its an expensive afternoon out!lucky for home games i only travel from knutsford but i still have to pay to get in!
fair post rabbit. And thanks eli. And greenie ive been goin since 1991 was at the trophy final and most homes til i moved 2 manc in 05. So get ur facts rite cos i HAVE been a lot more than u. Il see u sat on train then wen u can call me a soft s**te 2 my face then and see wot response u get then.
I am a great supporter of free speech, but this thread has got so far off the original topic, I do believe we need to rule a line underneath it, and all get back to supporting Witton. I feel if this thread continues in its current vain, we might end up loosing a Wittoner or two, and we can’t afford to do that at the moment.

And i think time has proved me to be correct on that one Simon
(Although i may have struggled to get my point across at that precise moment in time!! )
