Steve Pickup has tendered his resignation as manager of Northwich Victoria following last night’s 4-1 home defeat to fellow strugglers Stone Old Alleynians.
The Greens are currently third from bottom in the Midland Football League Premier Division and without a league win since November.
Pickup was never sold on the idea of playing at Winsford or playing in the Midland League. Travelling up and down the M6 every Saturday was always going to get to him in the end. Big boots for Vics to fill in many ways.
Just makes me appreciate more that I’m a Wittoner and always will be.
Playing in The Midlands league was never going to be attractive due to travel, especially midweek.
Won their first league game since November this afternoon beating Atherstone Town 3-2.
Matt Barnes has been appointed as manager atleast until the end of the season.
He was Steve Pickup’s assistant before Pickup stepped down and has previous managerial experience at Prestwich Heys.
