Witton’s Academy team are in cup action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to new-boys Ossett United (Sky) in the Second Round of the NPL Football Academy Cup. The Yorkshire club are competing in the competition for the first time following the merger of Ossett Town & Ossett Albion in the summer. They haven’t had the best of starts in the JOMA Division but as we all know, cup football is totally different and they will be hoping to progress through to the next stage against a Witton Albion Academy team who have had an excellent start to their league campaign and who reached the semi-finals of the competition last season before losing to Mickleover Sports by the narrowest of margins. Should the game be drawn after normal time, a period of extra time will be played and then if scores are still level after extra time the tie will be decided on penalties. The game is being played at the former home of Ossett Albion at Dimplewells with a 1pm kick off.
