Our Fantastic Away Support

After seeing the posting on away attendances, I thought it would be interesting to compare ours and the Cod’s attendances at away games.

It doesn’t take away the fact that Fleetwood have a very good home support but I think it illustrates what a large percentage of our home support also watch us away.

Chip of the old block You, Andychad.
How do we label you two.
Stato major and Stato minor ???
or
Statisticus Maximus and Statisticus Minimus ???
Seriously though, doesn’t it show what great bunch us Witton supporters are ??

Nice one little Chad (Not really little figure of speech!) This tells me that this has been one of the best seasons I’ve personally had in suporting the Albion over fifty years. Though we travel in a small group possibly termed (The PHIL FLAVELL GANG) its been great seeing you all at the away grounds and I think our behaviour on the whole has been brilliant!! I sure we’ve won many friends and I know they really like us at places like Stamford, Kendal, Marine and even Worksop where we were intimidated but did not react. Its fantastic supporting the best football club anywhere and this proves it well done Chad for pointing this all out and for yours and Neil’s contributions in getting more people through our turnstiles this season!

Just worked out that so far watching Witton this season i have covered 1416.9 miles!!

After the Ferriby game it will be 1529.2 miles!!

Add in trips to Sheffield FC and Exeter to watch our players in representitive action and it’s 1805.5 miles!!

A cheeky trip to see how Buxton and Fleetwood got on last night, and it’s 1836.5 miles!

Finally, add in a trip to Curzon Ashton to say hello to Mike Mosely, and it’s a total of 1865.6 miles watching Witton-related non-league footy action this season!!

funny thread that .Beacuse there was a bigger crowd at a few of your away games doesnt mean they were witton fans.Plus quite a few of them teams are within spitting distance of northwich takes us 20 minutes sometimes half hour when busy to get to the motorway

Also when the ‘Top of the League’ come to town, you will find most clubs have a better turn out of home fans.
Anyway its your home gates that generate the revenue so whats the argument?

Is this the point that I’m supposed to begin an argument with you Bisto or does that just happen on your forum?!

Healthy debate, isn’t it great!

are you worried about us closing the gap yet

The fact is that you can only do so much to get people through the turnstiles on a Saturday - and in my opinion there isn’t much more that we could do. Especially when competing with another, higher-ranked, non-league team in the same post code.

However, what does deserve to be admired is the commitment of those fans that do come and support Witton. Season after season a large majority of these travel away - and that deserves respect, whether opposing teams wish to accept that or not.

Ask the people of Lincoln, Stamford, Hucknall, Guisley, Stocksbridge, Gateshead, Marine, Whitby, Kendal (ask your mate Chelsea!!), etc etc etc, and they will confirm that we take large numbers away with us.

We are doing what we can to increase our home gates, but in the meantime we are rightly proud of our away following.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Bravo Robbo, well said indeed.
Our away supporters are one the best if not the best.
Just look at the fancy dress outing at our first match at Lincoln.Briiliant!!
Yeah Yeah we did loose that match but have overhauled it many times over since.:cheer:

So fleetwoods excuse is because its an extra 20 minutes on the journey there fans cant make the journey. Thats a poor poor excuse which highlights the dedication and quality of their support. Albion fans love travelling for the boys and are the best supporters in the league, we put you cods to shame.

P.S We aint worried about any gaps being closed, we are the best in the league and WILL go up. One win at a very VERY poor Buxton side doesnt put you back in the hunt, because i guarantee in one of your remaining 6 games one of your opponents will shock you, GUARANTEED!

Don’t forget our other win against a VERY POOR side that resides in Northwich.

Whoever goes up will have deserved it in what must be the toughest season this league has ever seen.

Very true Bisto, our points total would have had this won last year and there is one less game this season.

This can still go all the way to the wire, but you will need minimum 4 and more like 6 points from the next two. Still interesting, you have tracked us all the way and we cannot afford to take our eye off the prize now. We win all ours and that is all that counts, you will all years and you could end up having the highest points total ever for a runner up! Not over yet and no chickens being counted down here, despite the banter.

TWO less games actually…

Thanks for the feedback - T’was a slow day.

In respect of the Cod’s whilst you have the ‘problem’? of being 20 mins away from the motorway, we have the arguably bigger problem of 4 Major Premiership clubs within 30 miles, and two teams in the town.

Despite the lack of comment I’m sure Fleetwood are embarrassed by the FACT that they had more players and management at a game than supporters. When they are 2nd in the league and going for the title.

I think Fleetwood should win all their remaining games which means we have to do the same to win the title.
