Pete Heler

Vodkat News in the Winsford programme today says that Stone Dominoes have registered Pete Heler !

I am gutted and very sad that Peter has left us.

Although he has not been as effective as last season when he won the player of the year award, he kept on giving 110% for Witton Albion. In my view, I felt he was trying too hard to justify the honour bestowed on him at the end of last year. I am also concious that Peter has been troubled with injuries, and has also been asked to play out of position for the good of the cause. I also believe that Peter has had some family problems, which may have affected his game.

I think Peter accepted this and as such, decided to move on. He was very concious of some of the critisism being thrown at him from some fans on the terraces and also on this forum, and I believe this may have had its part to play in his decision.

If you are reading this Pete, then I wish you all the very best for your future, and would say sorry that I did not speak up more loudly against some of the unfair critisism levelled at you. (I am not saying it was all unfair, but some of it was)

I think it has been said before that this forum is an open forum, and as such people should be able to speak their minds. Also, people who pay at the turnstiles are entitled to say what they feel to the players. However think about how you would react if you were giving your all for the cause, but all you could hear and read was critisism of your efforts.

I beg all Wittoners to get behind the players. By all means critisise the team in general if they deserve it, but please lay off personal critisism.

Always tried hard wherever he was asked to play - you can’t ask more than that ! Good luck at your new club Peter !

All the best Peter you will be missed, always gave 100%

glad to see him go, we cannot afford to have a player who only has one good game in ten at the very best,

I rest my case

I am sorry that Peter has gone, I think we will miss his driving runs and his close control was excellent. True there were some games where he didnt seem to be in the game but he was asked to play out of position, and has been mentioned he seems to have had some problems in his life so perhaps this played a part.
He was subjected to a lot of critisism on this forum which is what the forum is for and everyone is entitled to their opinion freely posted. I personally wish Peter all the best for his future and hope he resolves his problems so he can concentrate on his football.

" glad to see him go, we cannot afford to have a player who only has one good game in ten at the very best," quotes albion forever

Bl88dy h*ll albion forever that is the sort of send off usually given to managers at this club

I believe you should only be critical of players for lack of effort not because they are having a bad time. I don’t believe ANY player sets out to play badly. If a player is not good enough it is up to the management to improve him or get rid, if they don’t do either the fault lies not with the player but with the management.
WHS.

all the best Peter.

Good Luck Peter, I think we will miss your 100% effort and directness, although not at last seasons level I think the team looks stronger when you were in it, maybe get your fitness levels up a bit get enjoying your football and we might see you again.

I have left it settle for a week and it is still very frustrating on hearing some of the reasons of why Peter has chosen to leave us.

Our reputation amongst the players past and present of the semi-pro circuit still goes before us.

Big decisions have to be made by some supporters on how they view players performances, bear in mind it is costing some players money to play for our club.

The performance at Salford last week was very good but Peters departure left a bitter taste.

I have said it before and will say it again - because this is a forum it does not give you a right to make comments that you would not directly make to the player concerned. vitriolic comments about players are hurting the club and some people need to think (at least) twice before pressing the keys

Looks to me as if he has been lured away by one of his previous managers !

Best wishes and good luck to Peter, gave his all for the Albs and really cared!

NEWCASTLE Town say they plan to sign Witton Albion’s Peter Heler after the versatile midfielder decided to leave Wincham Park.

The former Player of the Year this week told the Evo-Stik League Division One North play-offs hopefuls he wanted a new challenge.

“We’d have loved him to stay,” said a spokesman for caretaker management duo Dave MacPherson and Brian Pritchard.

“Peter has served Witton well since he came to the club, but we’re reluctant to try to hang on to a player if he wishes to move on.”

Heler could complete a switch in time to make a debut against Albion’s neighbours, Northwich Victoria, in the Evo-Stik League Challenge Cup’s fourth round on Tuesday.

However this weekend he has agreed to turn out for Vodkat North West Counties League Premier Division club Stone Dominoes, who host Congleton Town later today.

“Peter will play for them then join us,” Castle boss Greg Clowes told the Sentinel on Friday.

“Providing he is not cup tied – and he doesn’t think he is – then he will feature against Northwich in the league cup.”

Heler, who turns 27 later this week, was picked by Albion fans as the team’s best player last season.

He made 65 starts in league and cup for the club after moving from Burscough.

If he completes a move to Evo-Stik League Division One South title contenders Newcastle, then he will once again link up with Clowes after the pair worked together at Alsager Town.

Town’s manager said: “Peter was one of my targets last summer and I think it would be a great move for him to come to us.

“He needs a fresh start and would fit in here.”

Heler’s last appearance in red and white was in a 1-1 draw at home to Curzon Ashton earlier this month.

Does that mean I am right then ?
