Pitch Renovations

The annual pitch renovation is now well under way. This week is a particularly heavy week with new drains being laid and the pitch re-seeded. If you have an hour or so to spare on Thursday (19th May), any assistance you could offer would be very much appreciated. You will find us down at the ground from 10.00 am onwards.

Thanks !!

Echo that call for help-many hands make light work if you can spare a few hours please do come down free tea/coffee and biscuits UTA

Looking for a new football club to get involved in Colin?

I’ll be down for one if not both days depending on work commitments.

I’ve just got in from giving the lads a hand with the work being done on the pitch. It’s hard work but I really enjoyed it and I’ll be back on Thursday to help out again (if I can move my legs)

There is still loads of work to be done yet and not enough bodies to do it, so I urge you all if you can spare an hour or two then please go and give the lads ( and pauline) a hand.
I’ve seen firsthand today what a difference it can make.
Right, I’m off for a nice cold one

A good lunch time painting session today .Nice to see Joanne working nonstop. You need to have a brew break Jo !!

HELP !

We are struggling just at the moment our pitch drain works has coincided with the two mowers we have not working well, we have ordered parts but could be a week or so and the grass has got long, Can anybody help with the loan of a sit on mower or large rotary mower so that we can get the grass cut on the pitch, probably need it for a day ! or failing that anyone got one we can hire for a few hours to put us on till the mowers are done, also need help in getting it to the ground. You can PM me if you can help at all.

Just to update.

The Groundstaff are now reporting that the tractor is also broken.

Looks like we have spent the Vics money already!!

No really big cost just inconvenience, made worse by the grass growing 1/2 inch per day and not able to get parts because of the bank holiday !!!

I am afraid my little mower would take far too long to cut the pitch!! Mind you, if a dozen people came along with petrol mowers it might be feasible!

Tractor repaired, mower mended and grass cut - Big thanks to CJ and Paul

Drains being laid and painting well under way

Still plenty to do though. If anyone has time on their hands the ground staff will always be pleased to see you - the challenge is to try and keep up with Pete !!!

Many thanks to all you fit “young” men for all your hard work.

Ill pop down down today to lend a helping hand

I noticed some comments on social media yesterday, calling for new equipment. We need to realise that the money just isn’t available. The more technically minded members of the ground staff are repairing what equipment we have, so in the mean time its a case of more hands on deck if possible.

A lot of additional work has been initiated this year to lay extra drains (to ensure we can hopefully cope better with future wet winters). That means we are not as far on with the pitch as some would like, but I wouldn’t underestimate what has already been done and the huge amount of effort expended to get us to this point.
