News this morning that leading goalscorer Joe Duckworth has signed for Stalybridge Celtic.

Exactly. Great lad is Joe but we need players who are interested in giving the albs 100% and despite the fact he can find the net blindfold, if his heart is fully in it ?
I honestly don’t understand this forum at times… we have a lad who has played his heart out for us since the start of the season and yet when he moves on it’s all about commitment.
I have watched Ducky, Rokka and McGee put some great moves together this season. So if he wasn’t a good player but committed would we play him?
I thought football was about winning. Anyway good luck to him I say, he’s going to be a big miss, not just his goals but his work rate, his ability to read the game.
Hopefully we have someone who can come in and replace him. One thing I will say is I think as a team we still have a lot of players who can score. So let’s cheer them on tomorrow like we did last week.
He has messed Witton about since he joined with various issues including leaving and coming back.
It’s not to be aired in here but that’s why some have mixed feelings about him!

It’s a pity as he’s started the season well, but hope it goes well for him (except when they play us of course).
Football isn’t about “loyalty” - especially at our level where the wages we can offer are minimal.
Joe has worked his socks off, scored plenty of goals, but has been offered a chance to better himself elsewhere. Of course he’ll be missed - but instead of bitter comments, which smack of sour grapes, we should be wishing him all the best for his future.
Who knows - it may not work out for him at Stalybridge, and he may want to come back to us. But he won’t if he thinks everyone is slagging him off.
How many of us take a job and stay there for the rest of our working lives, turning down opportunities to better ourselves and earn a little more money? I’ll wait…
