Player Of The Season Awards

I’ll be organising the POTS awards this year, so was wondering what people’s preferred format was?

The way i see it is we have 3 options really…

  1. In the social club immediately after the last home game of the season (be it league or play off game)

  2. An evening celebration and disco in the social club on Saturday 21st April (after our last home League game of the season)

  3. An evening celebration and disco in the social club on Saturday 28th April (the date of the Play Off Final, which we may or may not be involved in and may or not be at home in)

Thoughts?

What would be the voting proceedure

Usually a form you can tear out of the programme and hand in at the club shop.

Evening of the 21st April gets my vote after last game of season Celebrate winning the league at same time

The only date that we know it would definitely be after a home game, is the last league game of the season ie. Saturday 21st April against Salford City.

If we are involved in the playoffs, we could possibly be playing away in the final on Saturday the 28th April, or not even playing at all if we get knocked out in the semi-final on Wednesday the 25th April. Either of the latter two could be a disaster, as very few of the players may turn up. As such, the 21st April is the only date we know at this moment in time that we can guarantee the full squad of players will be there.

It must be the 21st April, even though our fate may still be in the balance.

An evening celebration please.Used to be a great evening, well attended.Pity it got killed off or did it die a natural death ??
It will be great to restart it. :cheer:

Agree with Doc An evening do (on the 21st) not straight after the match that does not work for me really

You know Robbo every time I feel I dislike you you go and do something really good for my football club and make me feel awful. Well done Robbo and I am sorry for all the times I have upset you. Best of luck with the POTY and yes, I think a “Do” after the final game would be great.
WHS.

I vote for option 1 but will turn up for whatever the final choice is

My vote is for Option 1.

Presumably Robbo and WHS will be going out for dinner later that evening.

Has anyone checked with Titch what time is best for him to come and pick up his award?

I find this kind of speculation nothing short of disruptive. We need to be pulling together at this stage of the campaign, not trying to create rifts in the camp.

Titch has no more chance of winning than anyone else does.

The ref from the Barrow game is currently 3/1 favorite with the bookies though.

Tbf Sheesy would get my vote. Sheesy fo’ sho’

Unfortunately it doesn’t look possible to have an Awards Party, so it will most likely be the usual voting and low-key presentation.

Appreciate your thoughts on the matter though, thanks for all your input.

Right, after initially thinking we weren’t going to do this, the general opinion on the terraces seems to be that we should have an awards night.

So, we will.

Date confirmed as the evening of Saturday 21st April (after our final league home game v Salford).

There will be the usual traditional awards of Fans’ Player, Players’ Player, Manager’s Player, Goal of the Season, and of course the Ethel Stelfox award.

Voting slips for Fans’ Player will be available within the home programmes, and also in the Club Shop and from the turstiles upon entry to the ground. Please hand these in to the Club Shop once you have voted.

A few of us are already putting our heads together to vote on goal of the season, and we have a few outstanding candidates. If there is a goal you think is worth considering then please either let me know or write it on your voting slip.

Ok so the awards night itself…

We will be selling tickets at £3 each (happy to do 2 for a fiver for couples). Your ticket will also act as a raffle ticket on the night, to win some prizes hopefully donated by the players themselves.

Our very own Yorkshire Red Matt Arnold will be donating his DJ-ing services, so many thanks to Matt. Please see his Facebook page if you’re looking for a DJ. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002859993476

The night will be from 7.30pm till late. The awards hopefully will kick off at 8pm, and should be over by 9pm leaving the rest of the night to celebrate what has been a season to remember.

Hopefully the night will give us the opportunity to remember some of the various highs both on and off the pitch this season. We can also thank the players for their efforts, and could even be celebrating a title triumph depending on how results go between now and then!

At the very least we should be able to use the night to galvanize ourselves before entering into the play offs.

Please please please support the evening as it is now several years since we have been able to put a night on such as this. The disappointments of previous seasons have seen this very important night get pushed to one side. It’s a fantastic opportunity to put Witton fans in a room together, and the added bonus is that it will raise some much needed funds for the Club.

We will be selling tickets from the next home game onwards.

Please get your ticket early so we know how many people to expect on the night, and most importantly of all please cast your vote! The night wont mean a thing without it

Brillant !! Looking forward to it . :cheer:

Tickets on sale at tomorrow’s game.

First 10 tickets bought can also purchase a calendar at the recession-busting price of £2!

Don’t forget, your ticket will also act as a raffle ticket on the night, so better to buy your ticket in advance rather than paying on the door!

I will buy two tickets Robbo, but you know me, “Billy No Mates” so I still might be coming on my own!!
WHS.

Pleased to say that tickets are selling really well for this!

Ideally need your votes in today so we can get the trophies ordered.

Not long to go now!!

Already sold 50 tickets for this, so looking like being a really good night!

Grab a ticket from either myself or Sian on Monday as it will enter you into a draw for some top prizes! (Also thinking of raffling off the opportunity to resent the Supporters Player Of The Season award?).

Monday is also absolute final day for voting. There has been a tremendous amount of votes so far, which shows these players have made an impression this year!!
