Right, after initially thinking we weren’t going to do this, the general opinion on the terraces seems to be that we should have an awards night.
So, we will.
Date confirmed as the evening of Saturday 21st April (after our final league home game v Salford).
There will be the usual traditional awards of Fans’ Player, Players’ Player, Manager’s Player, Goal of the Season, and of course the Ethel Stelfox award.
Voting slips for Fans’ Player will be available within the home programmes, and also in the Club Shop and from the turstiles upon entry to the ground. Please hand these in to the Club Shop once you have voted.
A few of us are already putting our heads together to vote on goal of the season, and we have a few outstanding candidates. If there is a goal you think is worth considering then please either let me know or write it on your voting slip.
Ok so the awards night itself…
We will be selling tickets at £3 each (happy to do 2 for a fiver for couples). Your ticket will also act as a raffle ticket on the night, to win some prizes hopefully donated by the players themselves.
Our very own Yorkshire Red Matt Arnold will be donating his DJ-ing services, so many thanks to Matt. Please see his Facebook page if you’re looking for a DJ. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002859993476
The night will be from 7.30pm till late. The awards hopefully will kick off at 8pm, and should be over by 9pm leaving the rest of the night to celebrate what has been a season to remember.
Hopefully the night will give us the opportunity to remember some of the various highs both on and off the pitch this season. We can also thank the players for their efforts, and could even be celebrating a title triumph depending on how results go between now and then!
At the very least we should be able to use the night to galvanize ourselves before entering into the play offs.
Please please please support the evening as it is now several years since we have been able to put a night on such as this. The disappointments of previous seasons have seen this very important night get pushed to one side. It’s a fantastic opportunity to put Witton fans in a room together, and the added bonus is that it will raise some much needed funds for the Club.
We will be selling tickets from the next home game onwards.
Please get your ticket early so we know how many people to expect on the night, and most importantly of all please cast your vote! The night wont mean a thing without it
