Last time the Euros were on, we arranged a Playstation version down at Witton and raised a couple of hundred quid in the process.
Tempted to try again this year if there is any interest.
Thoughts?

Good idea. Liaise with the WA Dev Group.
GE
I have liased with one of them
FIFA or ProEvo?
I’m a FIFA man myself, I was ProEvo and ISS player for years. but now its all about the FIFA.
p.s. im terrible
Sadly the last football game I played was Subbuteo! No idea how these new games work, do they involve magnets or straws?
WHS
ProEvo or FIFA, I don’t mind too. Prefer FIFA but will play ProEvo.
I seem to remember you getting a little annoyed with me when I played you last time, Robbo?
I would definitely be up for it again.
Who won?
How about a Sweep on the Euros? £10 an envelope, £100 to the winner, £60 to the Development Fund. Put me down for one if it happens. Sweeps are a great way to raise cash, we could have one on the Premiership next season, same £10 with £100 to winners and £20 to the bottom team to keep everyone interested for a few months.
WHS.
Thanks for hijacking yet another thread WHS.
If you want to run a sweepstake then go for it. We need action not words.
Robbo I have not hijacked anything, this thread was about raising money more than anything and as for doing something I do but I don’t make a song and dance about it or you start telling me I show off. If I was on the committee I would organise a sweep, I’m not so I won’t, but I will support one.
I don’t like arguing but you seem to have a “down” on me no matter what I say or do, my sole objective is to help raise money for the club, if that upsets you I am VERY sorry.
WHS
No WHS this thread was about a Playstation European Championships. and i was trying to guage interest. If you aren’t going to take part or assist in any way then please do not feel the need to comment on it.
And since when did you need to be on a committee to run a sweep or do anything else for the Club? Do you think that Tracey is part of a Bucket Committee or that Dave Neild is part of a Golden Goal Committee?
And as for not making a song and dance about things…i can only suspect that comment was intentionally ironic!
I am not trying to cause an argument, i am trying to make 2 points;
a) Please keep threads ‘on topic’, as when you dilute them less people read them - therefore nullying the point of the original post.
b) Rather then saying “why don’t we” you should try saying “i am going to”. We would all support you in your fundraising schemes, so feel free to get the ball rolling.
To be fair to WHS he was heavily involved in the Guess the Envelope competition. I see you didnt enter that Robbo.
Robbo’s got his knickers in a twist again :silly:
How long does it take? could it be combinded with beer festival in anyway Robbo albeit that is before the actual championships.
Robbo is right in wanting the focus of the thread to remain on the subject.
There’s a lot to organise and it starts with needing 16 entrants.
I would be happy to help out (virtual stewarding?).
Perhaps separate from the beer festival would be wise and have WHS selling his EuroSweep tickets during the beer fest.
I’ve got a PS3 we could use, providing we do use PS3 instead of XBox. I’ve also got a copy of FIFA 12 if we use that game, as well as extra controllers.
I’m not available for the Beer Festival, though.
I would be happy to help organise it Robbo, as well as play.
Best of luck lads with the idea, I hope it raises a lot of cash for the club. I hesitate to instigate fund raising ideas as they may tread on the toes of those people already doing so much for the club.
WHS.
Thanks Thomas, thanks Dodger.
Dodger, perhaps you could congregate next to the virtual tea hut and sample the virtual pies? (Just to keep it as close to real life as possible).
Fundraising never steps on anybody’s toes. If you are unsure then just ask a member of the Board or anybody associated with the Development Fund. Fund Raising doesn’t always need to be around Witton either. If you have an idea for a sweepstake etc, why not try selling it to your friends and neighbours, bowling chums, cricketing companions, or fellow rugby union enthusiasts?
I have 4 confirmed entrants now (myself, Mookie, Mookie Jnr, and Thomas). CHed, you said you were rubbish, is that you declining to enter?
Rough ideas for format are;
Once i have all the entrants, we will conduct a drawer to see who pulls out which team.
Groups and fixtures will follow the real-life tournament.
We will need 4 Playstations, 4 copies of FIFA12, 4 TVs (one tv already in the social club, plus the big screen if we can get it hooked up, so possibly only 2 TVs required).
£5 entry? £20 to the winner, £10 runner up?
Robbo is this something that could be offered to the juniors to take part on effectivley a level playing field too?
