POSSIBLE JOHN BISHOP GIG??

Its just a thought but if anyone still had some contact with John Bishop would it be worth seeing if John would do an appearence at the club. Being an ex player and somewhat of a cult figure when he was with us you never know JB might just help us out.
Even if he only did an hours spot and if he could do it cheaply I know a hell of a lot of folk would pay to see him and any profit made might benefit the Floodlight fund. Perhaps we could get a couple of other comedian types to make it a comedy night!
Just a thought ignore if not feasible!!

Great idea, but would be too big for the club imo it would probably be best being a memorial hall/winsford civic event but yes a WAFC comedy night is a great idea with John Bishop headlining- Graham ?

I have been in contact with Bish by e-mail and spoke to him over the last few months. Nothing has transpired yet but will keep badgering.

And yes CJ it would be a bigger venue required!

Also on the celebrity front Via Red Elvis we have asked whether The Charlatans would like to get involved gigwise or sponsorshipwise, and I have to say at the moment there is nothing positive to report.

What we need to do is really sell it to these people. How much WAFC would benefit from their involvement, and the positive publicity this could generate for them.

For sponsorship, what tax benefits there may be etc etc.

Could somebody arty mock up say a witton shirt with the charlatans logo on the front?

More chance of getting Harold Bishop - but then he is more likely to do it for the Neighbours ?

Great work Andy. Hope you get some success in the near future.

There you go Pete, bashing the bishop again.

Keep trying Andy, as JB’s star is in the ascendancy he’ll be a big draw and harder to get!

Just a quick note to say I’ve sent an e-mail today with various suggestions on, again lets put this into perspective, JB had about a dozen clubs,(But only one fanzine!) and probably has hundreds of people now mithering him, so I’m not overly hopeful, but lets see.

Thanks “Little” Chad. Mine was probably a daft idea anyway but I knew a lot of you younger guys had the Bish Fanzine going and might have kept in touch with him. It was only the other night when Bish was on the box and I told the wife he used to play for us. She said she’d like to go see him so that gave me the idea. All you can do is your best mate so thanks for having a go at this. I think JB lives at Didsbury so its not too far away and who knows he might help us out fingers crossed!!

There are other ways we could get him involved of course.

Induct him into the WAFA Hall Of Fame for example? You may be able to tempt him down to accept that honour, which would raise the Club’s profile if nothing else.
