Witton will be announcing four pre season friendlies tomorrow afternoon. Details will be posted on here around 5pm or shortly afterwards.
Would it not be an idea to invite Runcorn to play at home, as we opened their ground & played away every season since. Surely it’s our turn, we would get a decent 300 + gate I reckon!
As many games at home as possible, get the fans back in and revenue coming back into the club. Like Swampy says must be our turn to play Runcorn at home.

Not the most exciting set of pre season games, we have 7 or 8 National League & National League North clubs and various League 2 clubs within an hour of Wincham Park.
Yet we are playing Runcorn & Vics (play Vics midweek if we have to play them) and get a game that will get the fans excited about coming back as the first game. Underwhelming is the word that springs to mind.
I might be wrong but I think playing Vics is part of the groundshare agreement and both have agreed to play a game in memory of The Doc on an annual basis.
As regards other friendlies, I think I heard something once that the bigger clubs don’t want to commit for fear of players getting injured and there could also be financial issues but again, I might be wrong on that.
I appreciate we may have to play Vics and we should remember the DOC but why not in midweek and save the Saturday for a better game.
I think I’ll save my money for when the league starts as Vics & Marine don’t fill me with excitement and I don’t want to travel to Runcorn again as I find their ground soulless. I have also read that Chester are playing Vics at Wincham Park and are also playing Trafford, Clitheroe, Radcliffe & Nantwich all away & I’m sure they will take a decent following & boost clubs coffers.
The Pre Season Friendly at Bala Town scheduled for SATURDAY, 7th AUGUST will now not take place as planned on that date due to The Lakesiders involvement in their League Cup Competition. A new date for the fixture is being considered and details of any new arrangements will be announced in due course.
The Vijay Anthwal Memorial Trophy game is also being played on the Saturday, as the intention of the club is to invite his family to the game. There is a better chance of them attending if the game is played at the weekend.
As Macclesfield Town played their LAST game at Witton, would it be an idea to invite the new re-vamped Macclesfield F.C. to play us in a pre-season friendly. No doubt they would bring a good following! Just a thought maybe.
That’s a great idea but I bet it’s too late now, they have probably got all their friendlies organised.
We can now confirm a Pre Season Friendly at home to League One CREWE ALEXANDRA on WEDNESDAY, 14th JULY with a 7.45pm kick Off.
That’s a good challenge for the lads & potentially a decent crowd puller. Well done.
News of another Pre Season Friendly will be announced at 6pm on Tuesday evening.
Witton will host newly-formed North West Counties League Premier Division side MACCLESFIELD FC in a Pre Season Friendly at Wincham Park on TUESDAY, 6th JULY with a 7.45pm kick off.
Swampy, It would appear you are listened to, you ask for Macclesfield and they get you Macclesfield. PLEASE ask for a 30 goal a season striker and see if they listen to you.
I will ask Carl for you, be patient. In our management we trust!
Witton have added another Pre Season Friendly to their preparations ahead of the new season. We will travel to Northern Premier League Division One West new-boys Bootle FC on TUESDAY, 20th JULY - kick off to be confirmed.
The Merseyside club will be competing at the highest level in their history, following their promotion from the North West Counties League Premier Division due to the restructuring of the pyramid.
I have just seen the game v Macclesfield 6th July potentially clashes with a possible England Euros Semi Final. Is this date flexible and could be moved to the Wednesday (the Macc game not the England game), so as we still get a decent crowd in for the first pre season friendly.
It would depend on where England finish in their group. If they win the group and progress to the Semi Finals, the game would be on the Wednesday (7th). If they finish second then it would be on the Tuesday (6th) should they get there.
