Albion reserves travelled to Leek CSOB on Saturday 23rd July, the sides started evenly but a few early pre season errors crept ino the albion backline with the fisrt goal conceded of a corner withh a free header, then new albion goalkeeper gifted Leek their second when he fumbled when he had seemed to of collected the ball safely to leave the Leek striker with an unmissable chance. Second hald albion were much stronger and gain lots of positives despite conceding another 2 late goals, Tom Swann and 17 year old Sean Tierney were impressive for 90mins. Albion got forward well and chances for Swann and Chris Roberts came and went, a flattering result for Leek but lots of positives for Albion.
The second string continued their pre season programme away at Congleton Town reserves, Albion eradicated all the errors from 3 days before and were excellent with and without the ball, Tom Swann (MOM)grabbed a brace and Chris Roberts scored his first goal in Albion colours to give Witton a 3-1 victory. Every player looked accomplised in possesion and it showed, oustanding performances also on the night included, Shaun Carter, Sean Tierney, Chris Roberts, impressive sub Ashley Wells and solid and safe goalkeeper Soel who looked accomplised and confident, with 3 friendlies still to play it looks like a postive season could be in the offing for the young second string.
Albion reserves are next in action away at Ball Hale Green(Leek) Tuesday 2nd August 7.30 K.O
