There was no ‘Predictions’ competition last Saturday - this was due to the high number of games called off due to the weather!!! It was nothing of course to do with the fact that the sheets that GE gave me were on my desk in Northwich and I has already reached somewhere around Rochdale on the M62 before realising I had forgot them!!! Doh!
Anyway in the great spirit of fundraising Lord Lyon of Peter had the inspired idea of creating a Golden Goal ticket with £2 tickets (actually scruffy little bits of paper with numbers scribbled on them) which gave people 1-5, 6-10, 11-15 minute windows in which the first goal could be scored. These 20 tickets were all snapped up by the gambling wittoners raising £40 English Pounds. The winner set to receive half the pot!
So, as this little story comes to end, guess who won the prize having the 31-35 minute ticket - yes Pete himself!!! As with all good stories this one has a happy ending, Pete generously donated the full £40 back to the development club (about the fifth time he has done so this year already).
The moral of this story 1) we can raise money through all sorts of inventive methods and 2) don’t trust me with the predictions sheets in the future!!!
