Pritch… All or Nothing.

I’ve only ever posted on here once before and that was to thank the people of Witton for their support over my time at Witton.

So today I am posting again, this time to say Thanks to theeee BEST person I have ever met at Witton… Brian Pritchard. (Bit long, grab a brew)

Pritch, I had the pleasure to be in the same team as for nearly 400 games, I always knew having you and your big head at the back we had half a chance. As a player you was superb, gave everything, often under rated by opposing teams and fans but I know every one of them knew they’d been in game after each game finished. A colossal defender who read the game superbly well, could head the ball as far as I could kick it, gave you 5-10 goals a season from set pieces and was a great captain. Often played injured, played after 3 hrs sleep, played for no money, again not your average modern day footballer, one of a kind and certainly one of Wittons best ever players. You should be so proud of your career and what you have gave back to Witton and non-league, your commitment and loyalty should be acknowledged the same as the top level hero’s and in my opinion the ‘Brian Pritchard Enclosure banner should be in gold letters across one of the stands.

As a manager he was great, straight away built a management team he said he needed to trust, myself, and Nige couldn’t say no, this was Pritch, he needs help, he has to be a success…

1 year later –PROMOTION IN SYTLE - FA CUP run bringing in thousands for the club, gates around 500, supporters on board, feel good factor, and most of all, people where proud to be Witoners again, a great footballing side put together by their hero, Brian Pritchard.

2 years later – a play-off place in a season of stability, played some great stuff and maybe with a bit more luck may of gone up again.

3 years later – we struggled, he worked his socks off, he never quit, he had no sleep, he lost his hair, (oh no, wait a minute) but we all stuck together stayed positive, and we finished on 60+ points, disappointing but a learning curve.

4 years later – he works his socks off, loses his wingman (me) builds a great squad, then steps down.

Im gutted, Yeh I thought Brian Pritchard would never call It a day at Witton Albion, Witton without Brian Pritchard having a say in everything that goes on, from pot holes in car park to what colour boots the lads wear, it’s weird already. The man’s everywhere, done everything, he has presence, statue, a control freak… yes (when it comes to anything Witton). It’s his club, his love and always will be, even from a distance. The man’s one of a kind and there will never ever be anyone quite like him at our club.

Pritch the great number 4
Pritch the head on a stick
Pritch the Captain
Pritch the caretaker manager
Pritch the commercial manager
Pritch the manager
Pritch the wingman (Mr Smiths)
Pritch the groundsman
Pritch the Physio
Pritch the cleaner

Get my drift, the man has done everything, he is Mr Witton, he knows it and he loves it. It’s been his life, he’s give everything he’s got and I believe he feels he still has more to give but he needs a brake, a rest, time to sit back and enjoy a pint, enjoy a day’s holiday and hopefully grow his hair back.

He now doesn’t need to be questioned and interrogated as to why, he just needs a massive pat on the back, a thankyou, shake of the hand, and left to recharge and save up for a new mower.  Witton will continue to exist, who knows this may be the start of a new chapter, Pritch has certainly layed some solid foundations.

Proud to be his bloody mate, and proud of him, will miss his smelly banter and so will the lads, they loved him, he’s a top bloke.

Love you Brain. It’s been a blast.

Come on Witteerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrn!

almost in tears, well said mike UTA

Brian Pritchard is a Red, is a Red, is a Red…

Streakers all over the North West will sleep a little easier this evening.

Maybe now he will finally turn out for the Supporters Team.

Completely fitting for Mike Moseley to have the definitive say on Pritch and his announcement today.

On my part, I just want to thank Pritch for pulling this Club out of the doldrums on more than one occasion, for not turning his back on us on the occasions when we almost went to the wall, and for making us all proud to be Wittoners again.

An honest bloke - often too honest for his own good! - and as brave as they come.

Putting his head in where it hurts for 700+ games will have taken just a fraction of the bravery that today’s announcement will have taken.

Very proud to have been associated with Witton Albion during your watch Pritch - i really can’t thank you enough for everything you have done for our football club.

Summed it up perfectly mike.

Thank you for everything Pritch the greatest witton great of them all.

Brilliant posts, I think the enormity of this announcement is just sinking in for us all.

well said mike. uta

Quite simply, MM’s summed it all up already, it’s been a 19 year old relationship that’s seen us go through every emotion possible and I’m honoured to have been alongside him all of the way. Enjoy BP

Really struggled holding the tears back as I read this. I had to pretend i was crying cos city had scored 3!! I felt so positive after today’s game, just hope the new man has the same idea’s and philosophy (not to sound like van gaal). Cant really say more than…Thank you Brian. What a journey and one that I and all other wittoners have really enjoyed bowdown

Gutted is how I feel right now. But it’s not about me it’s about saying a massive thankyou to a top top man.my grandad and my dad were massive fans of Brian as am I. Absolute legend thanks for the great memories.

Emotional day indeed, and I’m sure we all have numerous stories and memories which we will remember him by.

For me now in my 20th season with no previous connection with the club, like Brian, he has been there for virtually the entire time of my supporting, which is an astonishing time frame from a teenager on the bench to what he has achieved at all levels within the club, and as someone I’ve worked closely with in numerous areas he will be badly missed.

There’s only words of thanks I can offer for everything he has achieved and done over the years.

This

A fantastic post from one great Wittoner about another great Wittoner. Says it all.

It’s said that no-one is irreplaceable - well no-one will ever come closer. All the very best for the future Brian.

brilliant post from mike and just sums up how al us witton fans feel about the legend that pritch has become.

Lost for words to explain how I feel.

I was a member of the board when Pritch signed when he was a mere 19 year old.

It was Pritch who phoned me up after the Doodson Cup fiasco 2 years ago and listened to me pour my heart out to him for god knows how long. It was thanks to Pritch (and Neil & Ali) that I came back to join Witton).

Witton will not be the same without him in charge.

Please stay part of the family Pritch!!!

Reading all the lovely tributes has made the loss a bit easier to bear. I quite agree with the naming suggestions, how about the main stand as the Brian Pritchard stand?

Summed up perfectly by Mose and it will not have gone without notice that you came back to support your mate on his final game in charge. A measure of your friendship and loyalty.

Words cannot sum up the impact that Pritch has had on this football club. He’s been through it all and as Mike says done it all. Although you did miss one off your list…

Pritch the Chairman! One day far down the line you never know!

Brian was a player who became a mate and then a manager who stayed a mate. As many have said it’s going to take a while to get used to not seeing him at Wincham Park.

He deserves to make it on to the Queen’s honours list for his services to football, and yes the stand/ground/road and everything else around should be named after him. The truth is he would want none of that! That’s Brian.

Instead we owe him his time away from the club to win back his life and find out what it is people do with their spare time. All we can hope is that at some point he’ll be back.

Until then thanks mate for being a bloody good bloke and the best Wittoner you’ll ever meet.

Si.

You missed another one off the list Si, could never talk him into doing “Willy”, whenever your ready Bri! B)

Massive Thanks for everything you’ve done for our great club Brian!!! Yes Iike all Wittoners Im gutted, and wish you all the best for the future. Here`s my tribute to Pritch… bowdown

How about a benefit match, PRITCH will need plenty of money if he is going to go shopping every Saturday! Well said all of you, particularly Mike.
WHS.

Brian Pritchard has requested a recording of the Witton fans singing the 2 songs that he features in:

Brian Pritchard is a red, is a red, is a red,
Brian Pritchard is a red, he hates Northwich.

Bri Pritchard Pritchard, they love him at Scotland Yard,
He’s big and he’s (extremely) hard, Bri Pritchard Pritchard

Anybody wishing to take part in this tribute to a Witton legend, please congregate under the Brian Pritchard Enclosure flag at 8pm on Tuesday night.

Thanks.
