great news should reduce a relegation zone from 4 to 3. Flashy b*stards, haha
As long as they KTF then they will be fine. As long as you KTF then you donāt need money, or players, or even points.
KTFF.
What a sad state of affairs.
No-one on here should delight in the demise of a club. Hopefully they can keep it together and last out the season.
Looks like the council are the main villains of the piece, but then we only have one side of the story. It certainly seems to be a case of trying to run before you can walk and perhaps the club were a little guilty? Certainly highlights the dangers of relying on a sugar-daddy.
Personally, I have many fond (?) memories of freezing my nuts off at Horwich RMI in seasons past - now there was a proper ground! But great pies!

This post achieves what?
Danny, please have a big rethink and edit your post. Rejoicing in the possibility of a club going bust does you as an individual, and our club by association, no credit whatsoever.
As much as yours does actually Rabbit!!!
However, if you want me to elaborate on my point then iām more than happy to.
Firstly, much like Witton, Leigh have gotten themselves into a mess during their pursuit of the āimpossible dreamā. Secondly, again much like Witton, they are being harshly treated by people who you really would expect more from - in their case the local council, rather than an ex-manager/chairman/players. Thirdly, as iām sure we will soon see the evidence of, they are almost certainly in for a relegation scrap - basically they are in the mire, along with us.
My interest is in how their supporters will react to this. Will they get up of their backsides and do something tangible (fundraisers for example, pro-actively trying to get new fans through the turnstiles, alerting the coaching staff to any local players they feel may be able to benefit a Cub who will no longer be paying out top dollar for players). Or will they blindly proclaim ākeep the faithā until the point that the Club that they support is unrecognisable from the one that they currently have.
In summary; iām getting frustrated with the Keep The Faith vibe (as are many others), and would like to see more action from many quarters.
Too many people do not realise how grave a situation we are in, and for as long as we carry on saying āKeep The Faithā and hoping that will resolve all our problems, then the further behind we will fall.
We canāt keep blaming our situation on those that were here kast year, we canāt keep blaming it on bad luck and hoping that our luck will soon turn - we canāt keep on keeping the faith and hoping that by being patient then all our problems will just vanish!!! If we do that then we will be in Unibond 1 next year, and how many of us will be keeping the faith then?!
If people want this Club to start moving in the right direction then it needs less faith and more action from EVERYBODY who holds this Club close to their heart. Faith is NOT going to get us out of this very very precarious situation. The sooner people realise that and start doing somethingabout it, then the sooner we will have a Club that is moving forwards again.
(and this isnāt a rant at everyone, or even everyone KTF-ing, but itās time to get our heads out of the sand and do something to help our Club before it is too late - my concern is that too many people are preaching patience when it is action that we need).
By action I presume you mean sack the Manager? And who will come in with no money to spend? And who will come in with more commitment to the Club than Mr. Deeley? Football fans want instant results, but it NEVER happens like that, ask United fans what they thought of Ferguson for two seasons. Patience is a virtue you do not seem to have, but it is what is needed. Spurs won at last then followed it with a 4-4 draw at Arsenal, we can get the same kind of results in our next two games so stop moaning please, at least until the New Year.
WHS.
Best post ive seen on here for a while. Totally agree with it. And people are just sitting back and accepting it. Some people spoke about tuesday like it was if we had won, cos we had an ok 2nd half. Is that what its come to? F*ck the faith, lets see some action. And just to state, my interest is ONLY witton and their survival. I have no interest whatsoever in leighs affairs. But at the end of the season, Leighs demise could help us stay up. Would any of u honestly rather we went down if it meant leigh survive as a club? Behave!! Enough teams have had a good laugh at us over the summer/this season. So sorry if u dont like it but i say what i like on here and wont be influenced by others telling me what to say some may not like it but at least im honest and dont just follow the crowd.
I suggest you re-read my post WHS, and several others i have made of late. If you can find ONE single reference to sacking the manager then iāll make a donation to the Development Fund.
Nobody backs Nigel more than i do. Whether he is the right man for the job only time will tell, but iāll back him while heās in the hot-seat.
If at some point though it becomes apparent that Nige has to go, then iām iāll also support that action too. As would Nigel himself.
sorry the best post comment was referring to Robbos not the one from WHS!
Robbo, far more constructive than your original post and full of passionate and positive thought.
Danny, you appear to believe the only thing needed is to sack the current manager and everything will be just fine!
I donāt subscribe to āKeep the Faithā as a motto or the sole requirement in our current predicament, I never have. I do subscribe for the need to be patient and the need to take positive actions in every single aspect of the running of the club.
Blind faith can be more destructive than beneficial, everyone needs to appreciate the amount of work that has been done and more importantly the amount of work that remains to be done. Everyone will play a part in this, those on the pitch, the management, the board and the supporters.
The line has been drawn under the events of last season. We should have achieved promotion in the position we were in (but frankly the off the field position and lack of direction means we would have struggled on many levels). The reasons for the turmoil at the start of season are well known. There previous Manager and Chairman are responsible for the entire first team (bar two) leaving the club.
We had to find a new Manager, New Chairman, New Club Secretary and New Squad in the closed season. Anybody who wants to compare our current league position with the team from last season needs to get a reality check. We were never going to be in the top six by the middle of October!!!
Where we do need to get to is further up the table to draw away from the relegation area, however there are still 27 games to go (this does not overshadow the need to be doing this now)! We also need to operate within our financial means whilst also looking for ways to inject further revenue into the club.
Mark Harris has done an extremely good job so far to āsteady the shipā, he is looking to bring new investment into the club by the way of another director to the board (not on a loan or shares basis but through cash donation), he is continuing the discussions regards land sale and relocation, made quick decisions regards the social club, etc, etc. At the same time he has got the costs under control and is focused on working to the tight budget we have to. Regards Mark efforts, and Pete Riley, Jeff Metcalf, Neil Wilson and every other individual involved with the club administration, they are working for nothing and will not get any benefit out of this, chances are that criticism will outweigh any acclaim!
As for the manager, Nige is under the pressure of recent results and anyone who thinks he is not aware of this is equally as naive! By his own admission he persevered with a couple of players longer than he perhaps should have done but by the same token it is experienced players that have let him down. Burke and Smith are two examples and he has shown them the door. The pressure comes from having to make quick decisions, unfortunately players do not have long to show their value and frankly fans donāt give them long either (me included).
I missed the game in Kendal as I was in Scandinavia, reports suggest the were some signs that we played better although again didnāt get what matters most - a result! I personally thought we were better in the first half on saturday than we have been since Gateshead away. We need to play our best starting eleven in a regular formation that they get used to playing in! Once the first 11 is settled for a few games then we need to be moving on players not good enough in their given position and replacing them one at a time with a better replacement. Wholesale changes of a different 3 or 4 players each game will not do it. With our current personnel Nige favors 4-3-3 and that is his decision. As I have said before he was appointed the manager, he has a UEFA āAā Licence (which is significantly more credible than my opinion, or Robboās or Dannyās). We need to allow him further time to do the job. An replacement now will likely mean we go further backwards not forwards. If after more time results do not improve than everyone, Nige included will have to look at the situation.
Off the pitch our position is far better now than it was at the end of the last season when we were challenging for promotion - and that is a fact not opinion!
On the pitch our position is worse, which is to be expected given the volume of changes. We need to work within our budgets, extend our net in the search for better new players, make quicker decisions on releasing players that are not good enough, stick to a regular formation. I personally would also bring these players in for a further training session each week and I would look at some other ācoachingā areas. Plus I would take a gamble on a couple of the younger players being good enough for a regular start.
Whether the fans are happy or not the short term objective has to be to stay up, which means it will not be as pretty as last year and as good to watch. We have to keep making positive progress and that is nothing to do with faith and everything to do with actions!

Amen to that!!
I couldnāt care less how pretty it is right now, i just want points on the board!!
Fair enough Robbo, but by āactionā what DO you mean? We have no money to spend on players so what can Mr. Deeley do to change things round?
WHS.
Thereās plenty that can be done, and not just by Nige. We all have a role to play in trying to keep the Club out of the mire, it just depends on how much people want it.
Still not clear Robbo on what we can do except keep supporting the Club finacially an on the terraces.
