For those people who are having trouble logging on. The admins have been told and are working on a solution.
The list of members has not been touched at any point during the forum changeover. All login details remain as before, nothing has been altered. It is not possible for me (nor anyone) to access existing passwords, however if anyone wants their password setting just let me know the details and I can set a new password.
I’ve been having trouble logging on myself, I found that if I didn’t tick the ‘remember me’ box when logging on it wouldn’t work so anyone having the same trouble try ticking that box, it might help… ?
OK, I’ve been doing a bit of research, and apparently there have been some problems with logging on using the ‘community builder’ mod I have installed, however there is no one solution, so I’m trying things step by step. I’ve made one change, would appreciate any feedback on whether or not the problem has disappeared.
What makes it difficult for me is that I’ve not had any problem logging on at all, I can’t recreate the problem so I can’t tell whether it has been fixed!
Mike - we’ve had problems with people getting new passwords and re registering etc.
I’ve just tried to edit someones password and I’ve managed to log in as them. I’m no computer hacker and don’t get me on data protection now please!
As the new passwords etc don’t seem to be forthcoming if people want to email me their new requested passwords with what their user name is I will alter them for you and email you back when it is done. (please don’t expect instant changes though, contary to belief I do have a job as well and will be elsewhere on Wednesday night!)
This is the important bit it MUST have a capital letter in it, and a number and lower case letters.
My email is neilwilson8980@hotmail.com
Lets get back to title talk eh!!!
Just to prove it works - Its Neil as Eli!
Double life I lead…
It’s impossible for me (or anyone, no matter what resources) to lookup an existing password, however I can easily change a password if someone has forgotten theirs. Once again, NO usernames and NO passwords have been altered during any of the site changes, the user tables in the database have not been touched! It seems that there are problems with logging on, as mentioned above, however a lot of these seem to be linked to the settings on individual pcs, I can’t recreate any problems on mine, or at work.
As Mike says all the original users are there I have seen them and my password had disappeared but I was able to get a new one without any trouble. Could it be people are no longer using the email address they originally registered with?
Anyway the above solution albeit long winded does appear to work and I guess only has to be done once.
Hurray!!! I am back in.
I tried to log on with my original login and password and my original email address - that didn’t work. I then tried changing my password - no luck with that either. I then tried registering again from a new email address with a new name and password - still no luck.
Neil has now changed the password on my original login and that seems to work OK.
Thanks
ditto the above, thanks Neil!
Got in
Thank you,grazzie,spasiva,domo arigato etc etc.:cheer:
Have people been able to login as normal now? I made a couple of changes last night, but as stated earlier I’ve not been able to replicate any problems either at home or at work. I’ve been able to login as usual, request new password, sign up for new accounts, all without any problems on multiple machines. I’ve taken off the ‘friendly’ url system that I installed last week, as that may have had an effect, but all my research indicates that it has been the new login module together with security settings on certain pc.s that has caused the problem. Of course it is not reasonable to expect users to alter their internet security settings, so I’m trying to implement other ways round it, but working pretty ‘blind’ as I can’t replicate any problems.
Just to reiterate, there should be no NEED to change a password, no existing passwords have been altered, however if any wants a password changing then contact Neil or myself and we can change it via the admin side.
Shukran!
I’ve had a few requests and have sent new passwords to everyone now who has requested them.
Keep them coming if you have problems.
Cheers Neil - you have made an old man very happy
i am back as an expert boarder.??? in me little RED CAR.
