I have said it before, and I will say it again, IF YOU WANT QUESTIONS ANSWERED BY THE CHAIRMAN, THEN JUST GO AND ASK HIM. HE MAKES HIMSELF AVAILABLE IN THE SOCIAL CLUB BEFORE AND AFTER MOST HOME GAMES. Then again, a lot of people asking questions on this forum are not Witton TRUE supporters, so they don’t go to games!
"it would be wrong of me not to acknowledge that there is some un-friendly fire coming from the digital zoo that is the Fans Forum. There are calls for the board to be lined up, grilled and/or shot for not employing Brian Pritchard as manager. However we are not going to hold a fans forum until tempers have calmed and a more rational discussion can be had.
That’s because, like it or not, the board is responsible to shareholders and not people who hide behind pseudonyms.
But in the meantime, I will say this, Brian was offered the job. In fact I chased him for some time, but although successful on the field, Brian’s tenure was not without issues off it and, at the end of the day, he walked out on the club. Consequently I had to make sure we would not have a repetition. There were also questions around whether his job in the police would enable him to take on the role, and if so when. I’ll show you the texts if you like.
And when it came to meeting the board that did not go well. So there you have it. Did I offer Brian the job? Yes. Did I want him here? Yes. Did he screw up the interview? Yes. Did Carl Macauley convince the board he was the man for the post instead? Yes. So we move on."
This is an excert from “Behind the chair” in Tuesdays programme. Apparently JV applied as well.
I put a post on here yesterday about this but it was deleted. Forum policed now?
I can tell you Jeff I’m a true Witton fan. i also read the notes and find it an absolute disgrace that Mr Harris is so arrogant that he refuses to meet the fans in an official capacity.
So the chairman is using Brian’s personal issues last time as an excuse, wow that is low! It just goes to show the measure of Harris that he will stoop to anything to be right, we could all see how much it broke Brian’s heart to walk away last time, the fact he broke down in tears infront of a packed social club, this from a man who shows no emotion ever. That was a broken man who’s world was crashing around him, and you use it against him disgusting.
Jeff have you ever thought some of us don’t want to talk to Harris, we don’t have an confidence in what he says? And I go the games so am I fan? Poor statement that everyone of us are true fans
Whether there are people purporting to be Wittoners on this forum or not, questions have been raised by people not hiding behind pseudonyms about the current state of affairs. Not angry or aggressive posts, simply stating facts and concerns and posing questions. Attending games is not an obligation for anybody whether you’ve watched Witton for 50 years or 5 months and the very fact that a number of ‘dyed in the wool’ Wittoners are choosing to spend their Saturday afternoons or Tuesday evenings doing something else is alarming to say the least. The numbers don’t lie and people are choosing to stay away for one reason or another whether that be the state of the team, the treatment of Pritch, the performance of the board etc.
As I’ve posted on another thread, I don’t have the answers but some sensible and serious questions have been posted and just because they’re posted on a public forum, doesn’t mean they should be disregarded. The club is at a cross-roads and listening to the fans (including the 100 that were there on Tuesday and the 150 that chose to stay away) will be crucial as we try to rebuild.

I am personally appalled at what I hear about the way a true stalwart of the club has been treated and I just felt it appropriate that Mr Chairman spoke to the fans face to face to explain as to why this happened. Us true fans put our trust in Mr Harris and his board to look after our beloved club and I feel that trust is wavering somewhat at the moment and I’m afraid speaking to the fans through the programme just doesn’t cut it.
Yes we need a forum and that should be for Witton fans and should not include the “non Witton fans” on here ! the Chairman has said we will have one but to let the mood settle a little first, makes sense as it would probably include Carl as in meet the new manager and it would unfair on him to get the backlash of recent issues. Mark has tried to give some answers in his notes and very honest and open of him, it seems reasonably clear He would have had Brian back as manager but was probably out voted on the panel !
I am not sure even a meeting will clear this up to be honest for Me its a pretty sad affair but I will just get on with supporting my club, whoever is in charge of the club and the team.
We will have a fans forum when the times right in the meantime lets get on with supporting the team were all getting so worked up about by forgetting any boycotts and turn up tomorrow
We played some good football on Tues night and people left with a smile on their faces!
Theres a race night after the game too so another chance to support the club we all love and help get Wheels some new Wheels!!
Another question for Mr Harris.
Why make a public announcement about binning the vics deal and then say you’ve not spoken to the board about it? Why not get this sorted, or at least discuss it with the board before rushing to the press and saying inflammatory things.
Let’s be fair the board have failed to support you recently over decisions you have made. So what do you do if the board don’t support you on this one? Come out with you tail between your legs and say you are sorry to Vics, empowering them even more.
You do make mountain out of molehills Upthealbs, the Chairman has said it would be a consideration if V##S get promoted ? that is not a decision just a statement of fact to the fans and public, Jesus He gets slated if He says nothing and slated if he does by some on here.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t…seriously the only people who knew exactly what was said in interview are the people there and if they felt that the person who looked like the right person for the job could not fully commit to the job then they had to go with that
An interesting dilema then put onto Jim Gannon and his players knowing that if they keep winning then it could cost the supporters a chance of watching the team play in Northwich next season,

Just for clarity there was no issue with Prich’s ability to fully commit to the job. His employers had cleared it so if that is a reason been given then it’s simply not true. I wasn’t privy to the interview (use that term very loosely) so I cannot say what was said. What I can say is that I spoke to him immediately afterwards and it didn’t sound like there were many footballing questions asked. Therefore it must be said that the process wasn’t a fair one. Since the it appears that Pritch has been thrown under the bus by certain individuals which is disappointing given the history. For me the level of Pritch’s disappointment over the whole saga shows his passion for the club and how determined he was to turn around Witton’s season. But that’s that. Will a fans forum change anything? Probably not but the board certainly need to reconnect with parts of the fanbase. Sorry to come on here and moan but I cannot sit back and let lies be told.
PS I think Mark has been quite shrewd with the timing of the vics thing. Puts them in their place and he is just saying that he is considering all options available so I wouldn’t be too quick to jump on him over this one. The annual review was always part of the deal.
I dont dispute for one minute what you say RO and I nailed my colours to the mast by saying I wanted Brian back and still would ! nothing in this whole affair saddens me more than the fallout with Pritch ! I guess though that what Mark is saying the panel were not convinced on some of the issues mentioned and possibly others and I dont know why ! but we are told of a few doubts, you may consider it a lie but they might consider it a genuine concern two views of the same issue are possible. I agree the board have a lot to do to bring the fans together some may never return but for me however sad or wrong the events its still My Club and until changes occur I will support the club and the board despite mistakes made (and I dont believe they were made either maliciously or not in the clubs best interest in their view ), not supporting them is not an option for Me.
You follow your club to the bitter end. That I agree with and been a Darlington fan know better than most in recent times how hard it can be!!!
What I’m disputing here CJ is the fact that someone has cited Pritch’s ability to commit as a reason for him not getting the job. That is a lie, whether one that is out of misinformation or misunderstanding. I know exactly the position he was in with his employers and it would have had no bearing on his ability to manage.
One thing he was pulled up on was the fact he didn’t travel on the team bus. During his last tenure he didn’t travel on the bus sometimes down to work, and other times simply because he picked up mike/Al/players/me in an effort to save their travelling expenses.
I don’t recall any incidents on the team coach involving his players when he wasn’t on the bus. Witton had a manager recently who did travel on the bus. Didn’t bring anything extra to the discipline of the players.
You could say Brian refused to travel on the bus so now he’s been thrown under it!!!

Am I reading this right? So basically he didn’t get the job that he’d already been offered because he didn’t travel on the team bus??
Christ on a bike!! This is comedy genius!!
I’m sure if he was told that he would have to travel on the team bus or he wouldn’t get the job then he would have!
Now that we have a manager who interviews well AND travels on the team bus we should fly up the leagues in no time. mooney

Absolute bollox that Pritch didnt get the job because he didnt travel on the bus!!
There’s so much rubbish coming from this that people are now making up ridiculous reasons why Pritch didnt get the job
ADwarvesdinner you are comedy gold but your not a Wittoner so please stop stirring s**t
Yeah got to admit this Dwarf bloke is a tool
Taken what was said out of context. Didn’t say that he didn’t get the job because of it, said it was something he was pulled up on. Maybe it was one of the ‘off the field’ problems Mark mentioned in his notes!
thought brian got travel sick so thats why he went in car
