At yesterday’s NPL Div 1 North game between Radcliffe and Lancaster 3 people were taken to hospital following fighting between Lancaster fans and the managers, players and supporters of Ramsbottom who were there after their match against Farsley was postponed.
There’s a grainy video on YouTube but its hard to see whats going on apart from the Radcliffe PA Annoucer telling the culprits off! From what I’ve read it appears the Ramsbottom group came in late and were singing and winding up the Lancaster fans who reacted and fights broke out, 3 people were taken to hospital and one man was arrested who allegedly is one of the management team of Ramsbottom Utd!
What makes the situation worse was this happened on a kids for a £1 day so many families were in the crowd!
I remember when we played Gateshead, and a minibus load of Fleetwood fans turned up. That almost became an uncomfortable situation, before they got asked to leave at half time.
I guess the lesson would be not to let 3rd party supporters into games? But then that goes against the spirit of non-league football…
WIll be interesting to see how the FA handle this one.
I remember Colchester at home when their crew came in to our end towards the end started singing and then kicked off on everyone.
Can’t say I enjoyed the experience :red
I remember being a kid when that happened, it was bad I remember fans running and locking themselves in the old club shop and the toilets (if I remember right) awful situations to be involved in.
They should be banned for life, no other punishment!
